Daniele Tripepi
Hi all I am a filmmaker in South Africa and am looking into becoming an operator, i have had a little bit of experience operating camera's and am looking for a rig that handles close to 35mm and 16mm camera's, also a Redcam, the archer is what i am looking at but i have heard the arm is a little weak. I am also not certain as to how to market myself and whether a trip to the US would help in terms of going for a workshop as none are offered in this country. Any help is good help so please let me know. Dan.
Premium Members Jerry Holway Posted May 24, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 24, 2010 Daniele- Please go to a workshop before you buy - it will better inform your decision. Get the Steadicam Operator's Handbook in the meantime. The 6 day workshops that Garret and I are scheduled to teach - October/SOA/Philadelphia and December/Tiffen/Georgia. I may teach another in Copenhagen in November (discussing this now). Search the forum; there is good info (and varying opinions) on this topic already. Premium Members James Elias Posted May 25, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 25, 2010 Hi Daniele: Jerry's suggestions are worth considering. To add to this, we do have representation in South Africa and are looking at workshops in this area. If you need any further information, please feel free to get in touch - contact details appear below. Best regards, James
