Michael Tien
I am looking for a riser handle for my rig. Basically It would be an intermediate piece between the arm and the sled. I would like to get the sled higher without putting more tension on my arm. Does this kind of thing exist? Cheers Michael Tien
Premium Members RobVanGelder Posted November 23, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 23, 2004 These arm-posts are available in several lengths, depending on de manufacturer. But the longer they get, the stonger they must be. I have one that is about 40cm long and full stainless steel (home made). Normally they do not go that long, I think 25 to 30cm or 8/10" is the max for hollow tube aluminium alloy.
Premium Members Brant S. Fagan SOC Posted November 23, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 23, 2004 Gents-- Beware of stainless steel! While it looks nice and may be low maintenance, depending on the grade, stainless is by it's very nature, brittle and less durable than regular or even heat treated steel. Check the wall thickness of any longer arm post you employ! I have some 5/8" material if you need one cut to a specific length. For the 12" "man-maker" post, I have a piece of stainless tubing that I use. I will check the wall thickness and try to determine the grade of the part. Best, Brant S. Michael Tien
Do you have a picture of this arm post in action? I am sure it's pretty simple. Cheers Michael Tien
