Since this topic was brought back up to the top, and I forgot to post pics of my steadi-cart that Backstage built for me last summer, I thought I would share:

I had them add this built in power supply for me to their TR-05 Steadicam Cart. Each pair of outlets have their own individual breakers for surge protection and the passthrough/input edisons are rated at 20 amps. The best part is that I don't sacrifice being able to pack the cart into itself. The outlets take up the space between the travel wheels (used when collapsed and 8" pneumatics are stored inside) perfectly and the face is flush with the exterior of the cart. I only have to sacrifice a small amount of side to side space from where the input/passthrough edisons are built into the bottom shelf and usually that's the area where I put my chargers/batteries anyways. Oh, and yes the boxes containing the gack are all weather sealed.

Yes of course I have plenty of batteries to get me though the day but it's always nice to have some on charge just in case . However, on those slower days it's nice to have power for a laptop, cell charger, etc. When it comes time to move, I just pull the stinger and I'm off, mobile with all my chargers and batteries, then plug into power when I get to where I'm going with no hassels.

You can accomplish the same thing with some velcro and a surge protector but it won't look this clean or get nearly as many compliments :) Every driver/AC loves my cart almost as much as I do.

Hector & Manolo at Backstage Studio Equipment knocked this one out of the park!

Very cool modification, guys.... thanks for all the info on this thread, really useful stuff, the fact that this community is as equally comprised of tinkerer's engineers and machinists as it is brilliant operators is one of the reasons I love it so much :)

Definitely wins the best cart so far in my book. DO they have all the specs so one can call and say "Give me the Ansnick cart, STAT!" ?

and does it close up for shipping, lets say on an airplane?

Ozzie

Ozzie,

Thanks! It definitely makes life easier having a workspace that functions and does everything you need it to.

Yes you can contact Hector @ Backstage Studio Equipment (818) 504-6026, and he will know what you are talking about.

Yes- the wheels are a quick disconnect design and the cart breaks down and stores into itself for travel.

Eureka! I have the solution to all your problems.

Just call NASA. I'm quite sure they have a spare Curiosity Rover Nuclear Battery which the Mars Rover is using. They are in dire need of funding these days.

I'm getting one! Probably a bargain. You'll most likely also be the coolest guy on set!

Anyone interested in 230V on their Magliner send me a mail and I can forward some pictures..

I have the SteadiMag from Filmtools, and used a weekend to install Inverter/charger & Battery ( 90Amps ) on it.

It also has LED lighting, and preinstalled powercables for my Preston & Anton Bauer chargers..

When placed in my car it connects to the 230V inverter there, and recharges while I drive.

I have also with succes run a kinoflow & the directors monitor for a full 8 hour day on location.

All the best
