Premium Members James Davis Posted August 20, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 20, 2011 Hey guys, Just wondering for anyone that owns one of these yet, does the internal battery get you through a days shooting, or is powering off of the sled an absolute necessity. In addition to this does anyone make a cradle that sits in a v-lock/anton bauer mount yet (v-lock preferable...), I heard cinetronic are making one that mounts to the monitors but haven't seen any other details about it or how it mounts, any info guys and gals? Cheers James
Premium Members Eric Fletcher S.O.C. Posted August 21, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 21, 2011 I own one. The internal battery is good for about 2 hours. No need for a cradle, just velcro the unit to rig, it's 100% Solid State so it needs no special handling

I'm just a bit concerned that there is no LCD screen for any sort of confidence viewing either during or after recording. I'd be happy to get your opinion on this before I spend the money. Thanx Norbert

I use it to check takes on set. I don't understand the concern about a LCD, you already have a screen on the rig, why not use it?
Premium Members Benjamin Treplin Posted September 1, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 1, 2011 How do you guys manage start and stop? I tend to forget this all the time. Does the recorder use a timecode flag?

Does the recorder use a timecode flag? Ummm I press the record button to start it and the stop button to stop the recording. It's a bit bucket device so it records what ever is in the SDI stream
Premium Members Jon Beattie Posted November 17, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 17, 2011 How has this unit been working out for you guys that have been using it? How many minutes per GB of video are you getting? I was looking at Atom's new Samurai at 5x the cost. If the hyperdeck works and I can get away with 2 or 3 220GB drives it seems like a no brainer. Doesn't seem that the Hyperdeck gives any option in video format and quality. The nice thing about the Samurai is you can pick and choose. Premium Members Osvaldo Silvera SOC Posted November 18, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 18, 2011 I bought the Hyperdeck a few days ago, still haven't opened the box. Researching which SDD to get, the OCZ VERTEX 3 SATA III 2.5" SSD in the 240GB size seems like it will be the one, I'll probably get it next week and test it all out. I'd love to know if anyone has taken their Hyperdeck to some electronic guru to replace the din 1.0/2.3 connectors with standard BNC's? Premium Members Ramon Engle Posted November 25, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 25, 2011 Hi Ozzie. I'd recommend buying the DIN Adapter cables from RED. They're short, durable, swivel and release in a proper fashion. The TecNec cables I bought from B&H were terrible, too long and the release was so stiff I need pliers to disconnect. REALLY! Also, hope you have a docking station for the SSD card for formatting and downloading footage. Happy Holidays. Ramon
Premium Members Osvaldo Silvera SOC Posted November 25, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 25, 2011 Ahhh, Thanks for the advice, I had already bought 4 cables, 2 with the 90 degree din connectors and female bnc ends and 2 with straight connectors and male bnc ends Gonna go buy a ssd dock today if I can get thru the crowds. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.
Premium Members Mark Schlicher Posted November 25, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 25, 2011 Where did you get the 90 degree din cables? I got some nice short cables but with straight connectors and am thinking I may eventually upgrade.
Premium Members William Demeritt Posted November 25, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 25, 2011 I'd like to know where you got the 90 degree din connectors too!
Premium Members Osvaldo Silvera SOC Posted November 26, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 26, 2011 Marketek, a little stiff but cool and they're short so its fine.
Premium Members William Demeritt Posted November 26, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 26, 2011 Wow, that's infuriating. The components cost MAYBE $22, but they know the cables are for RED One owners with the stupid DIN connectors, so the up charge is $10 more.
