Premium Members Mark Schlicher Posted February 22, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 22, 2012 Just a thought...have you contacted Tiffen? They should be able to sell you that part. I think it may be tough finding a used one. Also, the plate looks pretty easy to modify...buy a generic V-lock camera plate, make the connections and screw it together. I'm not familiar with the AA version, so you may need to fashion a thin aluminum plate to go between the new battery plate and the tubular bracket. If you don't feel comfortable with DIY, contact a local cable builder or broadcast TV engineer, who should be able to do the job easily. You might save some money that way. HI.. Premium Members Mark Schlicher Posted February 23, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 23, 2012 That is a lot for just a mount. I couldn't find it on Tiffen's website, but maybe I missed it. I recommend that you doublecheck with Tiffen to make sure. They may be able to sell just the component parts you need to add the the bracketry that you have.

Premium Members Mark Schlicher Posted February 23, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 23, 2012 John, I have a Zephyr but the bracket is similar (if not identical). I'll try to snap a pic this afternoon (I'm off to a meeting right now) but also call Tiffen. I feel like the $495 price may be a mistake. At least they might be able to sell you only the components you actually need.
John Nguyen
Well.. It's not $495.. but actually $419 from BH.com Still wouldnt be much different from $495 isnt it?
Premium Members Mark Schlicher Posted February 24, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 24, 2012 Thanks for the link. Yes, cheaper than $495 but still expensive. It looks pretty much identical to the bracket on the Zephyr, except for a different power connecter (the Zephyr uses a 3-pin Lemo.) Since an IDX v-mount plate is about $100 by itself, you could consider that the rest of the components (bracket, metal backplate and wiring) is about $320. Premium Members Mark Schlicher Posted February 25, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 25, 2012 I don't have any personal experience with ebay (and other generic) batteries. There are varied opinions expressed on other threads, you should read them and it may help you make up your mind.
