Marshall 651 Yoke CAD files

So, last time there was a thread about this on the forums, it got shut down, because I decided I wanted to go into business selling these things. I have happily come to my senses, having only sold around 10, and realized that I'm much happier fiddling with my rig than selling accessories. I'm gonna release the CAD files I used on here, so anyone can build one. I've had several requests from users on here for the plans, and I figure if I'm going to offer them up to some, I should offer them up to all.

 

I should note that these plans aren't fancy, and they don't have much of a way of mounting the yoke to the sled. Late in the manufacturing, I had a 1/4"x20 thread added to the center of the "Base Block" part, which I know a lot of people used. If you can get it the yoke made, however, I'm sure you can find a way to get it mounted to your sled.

 

I still think the Marshall 651STX is one of the better low-cost monitors, and while I do get Cinetronic envy whenever I see one of their monitors, my monitor has paid itself off many times, and I've had no issues with it. I can't imagine using it without a yoke ever again though, and if you own one, or make one, I'm sure you'll understand.

 

All I ask, if you make one of these and use it on your sled, just send me a picture of it in use. I love seeing how far these things end up going!

 

 

A few technical details, for those inclined to build this:

 

 

In terms of how the assembly actually works, you take 2 of the "Side Blocks" and bolt them to the "Base Block". Then, you bolt the two "Monitor Blocks" to the sides of the monitor with 2 4-40 3/8" long countersunk screws. A 1/4"x20 5/8" long bolt then goes through the side blocks and into the monitor blocks. The 1/4" bolt (the pivot) has a spring washer and a 1/16" thick Nylon washer on the outside, and a 1/16" Nylon washer between the side block and the monitor block.

CinemaOxide, the company that was manufacturing the monitor yokes for me when I was selling them, is now going to be making some of these yokes on their own. If you want one, contact them directly.

 

Just as a note, I'm not involved in this production run any more than just handing over the designs. So, no, I'm not making a cut of the sales. I'm just letting him keep manufacturing them so that anyone else who wants one can get one.

Yes, also ordered one and I too can't imagine the Marshall without it. Great build quality and finish. Rock solid.
