Premium Members Jens Piotrowski SOC Posted April 6, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 6, 2013 Just a note for future Gen 2 owners. After playing with the Gen 2 for a couple of days now, I have to say I like it a lot. Formfactor, Viewing angles, brightness, all very good. There is one thing people should consider though, the weight, or better, the lack thereof at 2.2 lbs. In order to easily balance most "big rigs" dynamically you will have to add weight to the monitor, either with the optional weight plate or the battery back. If you don't add weight, like I did at first, I had to move one of batteries under the post and keep only one in the back position on my Ultimate 1. Not everybody has that option though....., thanks to Greg B....
Moderators Alec Jarnagin SOC Posted April 6, 2013 Moderators Report Share Posted April 6, 2013 Finally had time to go to FedEx today and pick mine up. Smaller than I thought! I had an AB plate put on the back so that is always an option, but most of the time I'm flying Alexas these days and with my PRO/XCS hybrid (XCS post is 19" so approx 1.5" longer than the stock PRO) and my current setup on "The Americans" where we use Ultra Primes, I'm only flying two batteries to get my gimbal to an acceptable height (using my current first gen Cinetronic, and a Boxx on the back of the camera). Hopefully, this allows me to add a third battery again and have a good gimbal to top-stage distance. Then again, this show ends next Tuesday so I doubt I will even mess with the monitor until its over! Jobs with heavier camera setups may indeed involve using four batteries???
Premium Members Tomas Riuka Posted April 7, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 7, 2013 Chris, will cinetronic have compensated motion level, something like transvideo does? it's nice to have steady level while moving :)

Premium Members James Baldanza SOC Posted April 8, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 8, 2013 Does the Focus Peaking, Historgram and False color functions work?
Premium Members Guille Moreno Posted April 8, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 8, 2013 Hi, If you're using the monitor with a battery, and also the 8pin Lemo, which power source will feed the monitor? Will it change automatically when one of them is low, or if you turn off the sled? Thanks, Guille
Premium Members chris bangma Posted April 8, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 8, 2013 The focus peaking and false color work, the histogram will be done shortly. (it worked, but was ugly) The monitor will draw off of whatever battery has a higher voltage. Either from the 8 pin or the AB.

Premium Members William Demeritt Posted April 13, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 13, 2013 So I stopped by the Cinetronic shop yesterday to purchase my Gen 2 upgrade with the NAB discount price. Just wanted to say: Holy crap... if you don't own a Cinetronic monitor, you're going to eventually. I feel kinda lazy now for doing nothing with all my ideas that come to mind. I'll be completely honest: I was annoyed/frustrated with the delay after delay after delay with the Gen 2 monitor, the lack of communication over a delivery date, a preorder for a monitor with no firm shipping date, etc. Of course, those were all superficial "Is it really that important to get 'upset' over it?" issues since my Gen 1 worked really well, and Chris was always reachable if I had issues. Well, walking into their new shop, I can see why the delays... and it's not just "Oh, well, they kinda stretched this delay... should have only added a few months...". They have a whole new shop, a number of new machines, more equipment and gear to be acquired eventually, etc. Something tells me when they get up to speed, nobody will worry about delivery delays or anything! Walking through their shop, I can see why the 14+ months of delays (I saw the new Gen 2 housing at the Stabilizer Expo in June 2012), and even why they suffered 20+ months of delays (I was teased with a Gen 2 upgrade in August 2011 after my initial purchase?). Who knows, maybe I'm giving them too much credit, but it seems like they've grown a LOT in just 2 years, all while developing a Gen 2 monitor with custom boards and software and (hopefully Chris won't hit me for saying this) MORE stuff coming VERY soon. GREAT job, guys! And I don't even have my monitor yet! GREAT job!
Brett Manyluk
Slightly unrelated, but I know that a few friends of mine who are Jib owner/ops would be very interested to see a larger version of this screen with all of its viewing and exposure benefits made available for their use. I imagine you must have that in the back of your head too, Chris.
