New Rig TIme

I have only used one for a few days here and there over the years. It was just my impression that it took more -- maybe there is less travel in the lower x/y? I kept running out of threads when switching the cinetape from one side of the mb to the other.

Not my cup o' tea though a very solid sled. Pretty awesome how it's wired up too...all sorts of doo-hickies in the LEH to make powering anything easy. You can get the gimbal really close to the camera (closer than any sled) to keep the sled short.

Most the people I know who fly Ultimate's are insane...well at least Geoff is.

You will never be disappointed with XCS sled (period).

For CineTape display, I mount it in the center top of camera using a mini ball head (as close as I can on top of camera CG).

Just need to turn the display 180 degree to the other side when asked.

Most of the time, no rebalance is needed.

If I have to rebalance, it just be a very little turn.

Cheers,

Ken Nguyen.

Hi Gerard.

Have a look at Sachtlers Artemis HD sled.

I've owned 3 PRO sleds, MKV, a 3A frankenrig and now an Artemis. Still own the MKV and a PRO Lite.

The 1.8" CF post is great if you have giant man hands like me.

Fine adjustment for balance isn't on the gimbal its on the bottom post. So once you adjust your gimbal its set. You're now adjusting the post not the gimbal. I like that.

The Ergo grip will work with the Gimbal as well.

Power management is represented with Red, Yellow and green lights on the bottom stage for each battery which is a nice quick reference.

Sachtler can provide docking rings that will integrate with a Gorelock docking bracket.

I had my sled wired for PRO cables.

One sweet function is the 12volt high capacity function. Allows you to run an Alexa on 12volts using 2 batteries so you can hot swap batteries and never shut the camera down.

Give it a look. You might like what you see.
