Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted June 25, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 25, 2013 (edited) I feel like we should make a sticky with a directory of trusted brands for professional body-mounted stabilizers and accessories. Is anyone else keen on this idea? ... Or do you think that may get too political? Edited June 25, 2013 by Alan Rencher

Premium Members William Demeritt Posted June 25, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 25, 2013 I think the term "trusted" is already a bias problem. Some manufacturers are trusted by some but not others. Trust is not empirical or universal. A catalog of experiences, on the other hand, might go well, like the reviews section on Amazon. Since everyone is on real names, perhaps there's a way to collate all the experiences people have had, and make it easier to search?
Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted June 25, 2013 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted June 25, 2013 Maybe we should make a product reveiws section? My thought is that there are a lot of companies that make a lot of products. It would be nice to make a repository to use as a means of finding some esoteric piece of gear that you may not even know existed.

We pretty much have that as the forum sections

Moderators Alec Jarnagin SOC Posted June 26, 2013 Moderators Report Share Posted June 26, 2013 Indeed, too much politics around here already. Face it, there are only a handful of serious companies out there anyway. Not brain surgery guys. Just read the archives.

Premium Members Ants Martin Vahur Posted June 27, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 27, 2013 I think it shouldn't be in a forum talk-section but it requires some sort of an excel-type of list to mention all this great protiffenbartechprestonxcsmkvwalterklassenarri.. and other great companies. :) AntsMartin

Premium Members Iain Baird Posted June 27, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 27, 2013 maybe just make one's profile here more detailed than "yes, for big cameras" Years ago when I first joined the Forum I suggested this - I thought it would be beneficial to know what gear everyone had to assist in knowing who and where help might come from if you had problems or questions about the same equipment. http://www.steadicamforum.com/index.php?showtopic=3249 Looking back at it now I see that somehow where I lived was more important that what I owned? But regardless it's still not a bad idea. If there was a more detailed field for describing our Stabilizer in our profiles we could at least put in the major parts we own then those that have questions could search out others with the same equipment.
