Premium Members Tom Wills Posted September 28, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 28, 2013 I’m selling this for Larry McConkey. This is his 3rd backup arm, so we decided he could use to sell it! This is a Model 3 Steadicam Arm, modified with a Seitz upgrade which increases the reliability of the arm. It does not include the socket block or socket block adapter (which should be available through Tiffen, if you would like to buy a brand new one), or an arm post. An arm post can be added to the deal if you want. This would be a great way to add a backup arm to your kit, if you already have a Tiffen/Steadicam arm. The arm has certainly seen its fair share of use, considering its age, and who owned it! The arm is being sold as-is, simply due to its age. Make an offer, and feel free to ask any questions! Thanks! Premium Members RonBaldwin Posted September 29, 2013 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 29, 2013 Look at Larry's IMDB from the mid 80's through the mid 90's and you'll see what beautiful work this arm has done. The Seitz mod was pretty cool (when CP saw it they came out with their own threaded trunions) and made the arm more rigid and stay square with heavier loads. Premium Members Tom Wills Posted October 3, 2013 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted October 3, 2013 Thanks Ron! It is amazing to think of all the incredible shots this arm has done. I gave it a fly around Larry's shop, and it is one of the smoothest 3A style arms I've flown. Truly in great working condition for its age! A little more information. The arm has an Ultra-sized (.740") arm post, which can support any of Tiffen's big rigs, or can be used with an adapter post to go to PRO, 3A, EFP, or pretty much any other rig. The socket block adapter is available through Tiffen (part number 078-2078, as far as I can tell), and it is $1500. The arm also has a mod on it which allows you to use rubber bands to strengthen the arm's weight capacity should you ever need to (god forbid!). With all that in mind, I think we're looking at $3500 OBO for the arm, including an arm post and soft bag. All in all, you'd be getting yourself a very nice arm, capable of flying the heaviest of rigs, for $5000 with the part from Tiffen.
Premium Members Tom Wills Posted October 17, 2013 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted October 17, 2013 As of right now, Larry is out of the country, so this sale is on hold until I can figure out the logistics of getting it sold! Thanks for all the interest, however!
