Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted March 15, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 15, 2014 Hi, I just noticed that I am missing a screw on my M-One motor. Is it bad to use the motor as is? Or should I stop using it asap? The gear has a very slight play, not sure if it was like this before or not... Does anyone know where I can get a replacement screw I'm in NYC? I'm scared of sending the motor in with all the stories I heard about servicing. Premium Members joe mcnally Posted March 15, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 15, 2014 I wouldn't worry too much just make sure the others are nipped tight and replace the missing one when youre at a hardware store

Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted March 16, 2014 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted March 16, 2014 Thanks guys, anyone know the reference number of the screw?
Premium Members Peter Hoare Posted March 16, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 16, 2014 I believe they are M2... I never measured the threads of the motor I had here, but it looked like M2 and fit a metric alan key, so im pretty sure they are M2. Length about 6mm. Ask for cap head.
Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted March 18, 2014 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted March 18, 2014 Thanks Peter, I ordered the screw. It's actually 5mm long on mine (without counting the cap head) http://www.mcmaster.com/#92290a012/=r50jca
Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted March 19, 2014 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted March 19, 2014 The screw head actually snapped in the motor. Any idea how to fix this or does this mean it needs a trip to the factory?
Evrim KAYA
hey Victor, an experienced machine shop owner will be able to drill a smaller shaft in the middle of the snapped screw and reverse the rotation of the drill and unscrew it. there are special drill heads compatible with this very precise work. you should find an experienced machinist in your area. it happened to me before and it is not as big of a deal as it seems. fly safe. Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted March 19, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 19, 2014 You need a drill press and a left hand drill bit. If those screws are stainless, it's going to be almost impossible next to that soft aluminum.
Premium Members Peter Hoare Posted March 19, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 19, 2014 Mm yes, thats not that good. Whatever you do, do not remove the screws in the stainless ring, the bearing underneath is pretty fiddly. If you get stuck, send it to me, we can spark the screw out with the EDM hole burner and replace it for you. Pete.

Premium Members Victor Lazaro Posted April 11, 2014 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted April 11, 2014 I was unable to reach Loonworks after multiple calls voicemails and emails...
Premium Members Rob Vuona SOC Posted April 11, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 11, 2014 Loonworks still exists, unfortunately Don, doesn't seem to want to keep up with the business or is just unable too for whatever reason. I wish he would just let us all know what the scoop is. I would send all repairs to Peter Hoare =)
Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted April 11, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 11, 2014 Peter's motors are nice. I might just replace my M-1 for the peace of mind.
