He's agreed to sell the AVIAH PVR to SOA members for $349.00. The current price is $399.00. Turns out Zubick operated steadicam several years back and is familiar with our needs. That combined with the OLED screen makes for spectacular images. Premium Members RobVanGelder Posted December 5, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 5, 2005 (edited) Yes, after 3 months there might be some info now? ;) Anyway, to stay on topic: I just found this gadget in an Electronics Mall here: It´s a SD-disk AV player AND Recorder,MP3 player,USB-disk, with microphone, has a analog video/audio input and a separate AV-output. Internal battery that keeps it going for a long time, screen switches off after a preset time (or never at all) Internal memory = 256MB and you can stick an extra 1 GB in it which gives it a recording time of 3-3,5 hours MPG4. Video quality seems decent. fast forward and reverse scan with image. I tested with the internal memory only now and that holds around 45 minutes. Weight is very low, like 100-150 grams or so, Vecro it any where! Easy navigation and it jumps after recording back to the last recorded file. Recording starts instantly, after pressing the button. I just need to clear some issues with the supplied software. Nicest of all: its price: around 110 Euro. And probably somewhere else (Singapore?) even cheaper because Thailand is not that cheap at electronics. Ok, the 1GB card adds, but with no moving parts inside I think it is an interesting gadget! It has only a few buttons, working not unlike many phones nowadays: left/right up/down for choosing functions, press-in to access. But I did find a ton listed on evil-bay like this one:Digital Recorder I am betting it the same thing as yours. Plus it says it is switchable between Pal/NTSC. Based on your report I picked one up to play with. I like the idea of solid state recording. Besides, if I don't like it. So here's the skinny on the AVIAH. The menus are simple enough to use. To record is easy as well with a dedicated "Record" button on the side. Playback is a little tricky but not problematic. Each take is given a rather long sequence number so to replay a specific take may take a little time. The tuner function works well. The only hitch is you have to shuttle through the auto setup for the existing tv channels to find your specific channel. You can't simply hit the + channel button and lock in on your channel. Again, not a deal breaker. The playback screen is a little small but the viewability is incredible. You can view the OLED screen from any angle. The picture quality is truely remarkable. I've never seen anything like it. I purchased a Hoodman H200 for outdoor viewing and the works well but it does suffer out doors. Over all I'd give it an 8.2 out of 10. Light weight Long life batteries(2 come with the kit) Simple menu functions TV Tuner function Simple to connect to the sled And it's affordable definitely worth the money.
