Premium Members JobScholtze Posted October 5, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 5, 2005 I am doing a hd shoot this weekend and am looking for some tips. The camera is a HDW-750 and i never used that one before. I assume it has an build in down converter so i will be able to have some analogue signal for my monitor. Probably have to fly with a wire for director view. ( if he wants to see hd signal ) Do i have to go to many menu's to find that down converted signal? And are there any other tricks i need to know? Thanks for any input Job

Thanks for any input Job There's a straight SD out from the body, no menus need be fiddled with. HD monitoring for the director however, will need a cable. Premium Members Rudy Katkic Posted October 5, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 5, 2005 In regards to sending an HD signal from you to the director I'd recommend a thinner gauge of BNC cable which can be clipped to your vest thereby not influencing your operating, and then use a barrel connector out of that. Most equipment rental houses carry them. Make sure you get at least 18 inches in length.
Premium Members Jason Torbitt Posted October 6, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 6, 2005 Hi Job, For the downconverted video, plug into the BNC labelled 'Test Out'. That'll get the video into your sled. You can also adjust the output of the one of the other BNCs via the Menu, if my memory serves me correctly, for example if you want to power / source your transmitter from the camera rather than the sled. Other than that, it's pretty straightforward, everything is where you expect it to be. Good advice re: the superthin BNC cable. I have done this the last time I used the camera on the steadicam. Premium Members JobScholtze Posted October 6, 2005 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted October 6, 2005 Thanks for the input guys. No problems using the modulus 3000? No interference in the tape? Job
Premium Members Thomas English Posted October 6, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 6, 2005 I doubt using a modulous will be a problem.... severely doubt it! Watch your image out on your monitor. I keep finding them with 'monitor out' cropped to 4:3 ... Don t know why or what people are doing! Apparently you should not take it for granted that they have the inbuilt downconverter! check with the rental house although i have not yet heard of one that does not.
