Premium Members brett.mayfield Posted July 17, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 17, 2015 hey yall I am not familiar with Bon or U Televen. has anyone used their monitors? they have a 5.5" 1080p which, spec-wise, beats the typical TVLogic, matches the new one as far as I can tell. they have a trade-in deal that is tempting... just wondering about opinions, as I'm in the market. brett. Premium Members Sebastian Moretto Posted July 18, 2015 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 18, 2015 I have a Bon FM-073SCH I use as my primary sled monitor. The image is crisp and bright even in direct sunlight, and the viewing angle is really good, so no complaints there. Focus assist options are fine, if you'd want to use it as an on camera / assistant's monitor - I assume it will be similar on their other models. They couldn't supply a COG bracket for Steadicam when I bought it, so I had to make my own. They do have a stand now that might do the trick. Looks a bit bulky but the monitor itself isn't all that heavy, so it probably wouldn't matter too much. I've heard some complaints regarding build quality like the screw thread precision being off just enough to be a problem but I have no issues with my monitor in that regard. The acrylic screen protector that came with it is practically a mirror and not of much use though. So all in all, I like it. Image-wise I actually prefer it to the Transvideo Cinemonitor 6 superbright, especially in terms of viewing angles. It's not perfect but punches way above it's weight in this price bracket. Premium Members brett.mayfield Posted July 30, 2015 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted July 30, 2015 I traded in an old Marshall 7" HDMI only and received the new Bon monitor yesterday. I set it up on an Alexa and compared it side by side with a TVLogic. This Bon is really great and better to use that the TVLogic. There are 3 Fn buttons on top, user/menu button and scrolling wheel, all on top, not behind the monitor. Auto-flip and really rad focus assist functions. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to get a new monitor for their kit. ACs should really like this. Monitor, hard protective screen shield, 2x 3' ptap, custom case, hood, rain cover, AC adapter, and dual LP-E6 plate for about $1150. Monitor without all the goodies is about $900 with the trade-in. There was a free hat too, for those that can fit all their hair under a hat. this link shows the focus assist functions
