Premium Members Morgan Lowndes Posted November 11, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 11, 2005 Im new to this site, so hello to everyone here. I am based in Cornwall, in the south of the UK. I have owned a glidecam for a few months now and am happy with the results so far. However, i would like to take it a little more seriously and invest in a decent workshop. does anyone know if there any Steadicam/glidecam workshops coming up in the UK? I see there a few that take place in Europe but wondered if they happen nearer to home before i raid the piggybank. any help would be much appreciated thanks Morgs
Premium Members Jason Torbitt Posted November 11, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 11, 2005 Get in touch with Robin Thwaites at Optex or Howard Smith at MK-V, both run workshops here in the UK

Premium Members Lars Erik Posted November 28, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted November 28, 2005 Hey there. I know Hofmann of Sweden is arranging another workshop w/ Jerry Holway in the spring of 2006. I took this class myself in October this year. A great class and not too expensive. I think it's about £1,000. I truly recommend it. JohnDk
Hi there I'm new to the forum - and I can see that I've come to the right place. I work in my own small production company - making informationvideos / dvd's for different customers, local authorities and so. However, I consider buying a rig. I understand that the best I can do is to join a workshop. I'm not quite sure if I have got everything right. Let's say I go to the workshop in Sweden - how many brands of rigs will there typically be represented? Can I try the different rigs (brands) in such a workshop (or the most popular)? - And thereafter I can go to the IBC-fair to go shopping :-) ? Happy New Year from John P. Located on the pancake-island Lolland, south part of Denmark. Yes. Here's totally flat.
Premium Members JobScholtze Posted December 29, 2005 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 29, 2005 You are giving yourself all the right answers already :D Join a workshop, very important. Than calculate your budget. Find out witch cameras you are gonna use with the rig, and try as many as you can. Different brands, different rigs. If you drop an eye on a brand/rig there will be always some operator how owns one, and give you some advice. Oh and, if you join a steadicam workshop, the rigs are probably steadicam ( tiffen ) too i guess. Glidecam workshop = Glidecam rigs Etc etc Good luck
JohnDk
Hi again Thank you for your quick reply. I understand that the workshops are made by different companies. I'll join one - and go to the IBC 2006 to find something that fits my budget and me :-)
PeterDalby
Hi John First in english, so nobody gets confused over our danish language. I am an Operator based in Copenhagen. I own a complete Baer-bel system. I am very pleased with it and have used it a lot since I purchased it two years ago. You are right that a workshop is nessasary, I went to Rockport, Maine. It was fantastic. Paul Taylor was the head instructor, and he is a very skilled Steadica Operator and a very kind person. If you need advice on Steadicams, this is the perfect forum. I have used it since I started getting into Steadicam. And if you have any questions you can contact me, and we can have a talk. Happy New Year everyone across the world. And have a great year in the business. All the best Peter Dalby CPH, Denmark
