Premium Members Andrew Bradley Posted April 3, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 3, 2016 (edited) Hey, Can anyone help with this issue? I have the older ultrabrite HD component monitor. From time to time the fan randomly kicks in and can be quite loud. There are no options in the menus to disable the fan/no mention of temperature or anything that might be related... On set the other day it finally decided to come on during the take to which sound quickly kicked off about. All I could do was turn it off and on again and hope it did not repeat itself which is not ideal but a quick fix. Anyone have any ideas on this? Thanks Andrew Edited April 3, 2016 by Andrew Bradley
Premium Members Jens Piotrowski SOC Posted April 3, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 3, 2016 talk to Tiffen UK, I'm sure you could add an on/off switch
Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted April 4, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 4, 2016 If the boards are dirty, they could be heating faster than they should. That would cause the fan to come on faster than normal. You could use canned air to get the dust off of everything.
Premium Members Andrew Bradley Posted April 4, 2016 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted April 4, 2016 (edited) Thanks guys, I was hoping someone who has had hands on experience with this particular monitor might chime in and tell me what i'm doing wrong and how to sort the issue, as there must be a way to turn it on or off or some control over it??? Perhaps installing a switch is the answer. Thanks Andrew Edited April 4, 2016 by Andrew Bradley
Premium Members Jerry Holway Posted April 5, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 5, 2016 I remember that there was a way to do this, so I checked with the factory. On the older UltraBrite monitors, if you turn the TEMP DIP switch to the off position, the fan will not come on automatically. UB2's have no fan due to the unique design.
