I was looking into a wireless Directors finder...

The new ARRI Directors finder is very sexy... and tiny. I foolishly sold my 2 Moduli and the canatrans is way to big and I want something dedicated.

I found that: Denz Video-Link AVL-01 it transmitts at 2.4 Ghz...

Has anybody used it, played with it or has any info? Price?

The company is in Germany and I didn't had the chance to get them during business hours... wait maybe now.

Thanks,

Erwin

Hi Erwin

I would reccommend the Teletest 2.4Ghz system. Very well built, rugged and reliable, I've used mine for over 2 years now without any complaints. As well as transmitter and receiver boxes, they also now do a 7" LCD with inbuilt receiver, great portable wireless monitor for the director, add a battery plate of your choice to the back and away you go.

No, they've not paid me to say any of this, I'm just a very happy customer.

Cheers

Jason

Hi Jason, how are you ??

Can you explain how you powered the transmitter from the Sled ? They don't seems to sell a matching cable for the flyer. Power out on the Flyer is a 2 pin Lemo. Don't know if the power out connector on the Master Rig is also 2 pin lemo ?

Hope to hear,

Best, Erik

Hi Erik

Hope you're well, all fine over here thanks. The Master rig has 2 pin small Lemo, 3 pin large Lemo, plus some 4-pin Hirose connectors for power & video distribution. I power the transmitter with 1 cable, 4-pin Hirose splitting out into 2.1mm DC plug (power) and BNC (video). In your situation, you could make up cables or buy them, and either power the transmitter off the camera, or if you have a 2-pin Lemo cable to 4-pin XLR, you could just buy or make a cable from XLR to the 2.1mm DC plug on the transmitter for powering off the rig in that way, and use a separate BNC cable for video.

This where I like having so many options for cables and connectors, there isn't usually a problem with powering the various accessories off the sled with the Master, and it's quite easy to buy or make your own relevant cables. I bought a wide selection of cables from Teletest and made a few myself, to cover myself for whatever situation comes up on set.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Jason

Erwin,

The specs to me on the Denz-deniz system look very good. The low power output of the transmitter is not such a problem as contructive/destructive interference from your own signal is 2.4ghz big downfall.

The best thing is the reciever seems to be "diversity". I can t work out if it s diversity tuner or diversity antenna. But still it looks good.

Off course the best thing about it all is the correct connectors are all there, like the transvideo systems. Saving loads of money on weird cables that break. It also looks like it will run on the hot 12v we use (i.e. up to 16v) which is my big no no with cheap 2.4ghz stuff.. it just frazzles after time of too higher volts.

The only thing I have not considered is the cost... as I can t see a price list.

Transvideo kit is very good.
