looking for a 3a docking bracket

I am going through my old storage in NYC as we speak, and literally just came up with an old Master series docking fork, and docking collar for the post. I think the master was a touch wider than a 3A? Perhaps 1 5/8". Can anyone confirm this? ... so I know what I have

It is only the fork part - So you would still need the docking stand part w/ the balancing stud, like the one Jerry Hill sells for the Gorelock.

Eric,

Still hammering out the schedule, but I should be at the show all day Fri & Sat so let's hook up even if just for coffee since I know you won't have much time to see the gear. Other possibility is we hook up earlier in the week because I'm coming in the weekend before (although that may get pushed back because of work - still the best way to get work - buy plane tickets).

Let's talk.

That looks like the exact same docking bracket fork that I have. What I suspect is that CP made the fork slightly oversized and then beefed out the docking ring to sit properly in the fork. Because the docking collar is tapered, not flat - sitting on a flat fork like the PRO / DeRose style.

Anyone?

Thanks for the replies, fellas.

Here's a newbie question:

Can DB be achieved with these old CP docking brackets? Jerry Hill's website tells the PRO owners out there that their 'spin balance' issues will be a thing of the past with his gizmo. How 'bout with the 3a or EFP docking bracket? Same issues?

I'm running a PRO 2 post with a 3a gimbal. I might bite the bullet and get the JHDB anyway, but I'm trying to pinch a penny or two and am looking for a cost effective solution for a spin-balance-capable docking bracket. Any input?

Hey David,

Yes the CP/Tiffen Dock can be used to Dynamicly balance your rig...

But you will wish you had spend a couple more bucks (on the Gorelock), the first time an AC pulls the mag and lets the Center Post take the hit... and there you have the first dig or scratch on your rig... or the first time you try to pull the stand over a set of cables...

Do You need it? No, but I do.

Erwin it's funny you responded to this post. My 1st draft ended something like this:

"I can always ask Erwin this question, but I've pestered that guy enough..."
