Have been in the television / cinema commercial industry since 1978. I have fallen in love with Steadicam System since the early 80's after having first worked with the Panaglide as an A/C. As I had no money to invest then, so I had put a hold on my thoughts of pursuing my dream. The thoughts has rekindled a couple of months ago after I had been asked to operate the Steadicam for a 4 minutes music video. And it got me thinking about investing in a System since there is no full fletch Steadicam System for Cine / HD cameras here. Though we have 2 units of EFP's but they are what they are with no upgrades. Anyway for your information, in Malaysia, we did about 30 full length feature films last year and most of them did not have any budget for Steadicam usage. So investing big initial capital could mean dire straits in recovering investment. So here I am, trying to see if there's any advice any of you seniors are willing to part to me , a newbie. As I am trying to keep my cost down and keeping my investment in cheaper but RELIABLE stuffs. I do understand that you guys and girls are into the proper, proper equipment but in Malaysia, we really cannot afford the bigger and better names in the business. I too would like to invest in the actuals but honestly there is not enough work to sustain the proper rig. I really can't afford to have "a White Elephant" in my hands. Due to this predicament, I am looking into alternatives like Actioncam's Zero-g Package. I am also looking for a 2-channels follow focus system with motors, Batteries and chargers and maybe even Video Transmitter / Receiver system. Do recommend cheaper but reliable alternatives. So please, all you seniors, do please pen me some thoughts and share with me any suggestions and valuable advice. I think they know someone has the 3A in KL, and FEG has the Scorpio wireless remote follow focus system, it should work on your project.
