Premium Members Kris Torch Wilson Posted March 13, 2008 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 13, 2008 JKL is back up and running. I even said "hello" to one of the writers. It took all the self control I could muster. Turns out I have a torn meniscus from skiing during the strike. Damn the writers again. Healing nicely and back to operating steadi on outside music days only. Budget cut victim the other days. It was sweet while it lasted. BTW just kidding about the car. I would consider one but my p...... is too big. Torch

I don't want to hear it...I'm breaking into my kid's 529 to cover the 42 gallons of diesel -- looks like I have almost enough clearance to drive over you? rb
Premium Members John Perry SOC Posted March 13, 2008 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 13, 2008 Nice car Rob. I'm jealous! Here are pics of my "Steadi" car that I've had for a couple of years. Unfortunately, the only piece of gear that fits inside is my Bartech. :P
Premium Members Erwin Landau Posted March 13, 2008 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 13, 2008 Guys... Wait until you see my new cart... case... cart... case... wait... cart. Lukas, I drove the MCC Swatch Mobile (Smart) over 10 years ago, before the "Elk test" debacle... Was fun on ice and snow... and perfect for European city's, it was a toss up with the Mini Cooper 1.3i, but I ended buying the Renault Williams instead (170 mph without Limiter on the Autobahn... wrooom). BTW: Mr Chevrolet was a swiss immigrant... Later, Erwin
Premium Members Mike McGowan SOC Posted March 13, 2008 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 13, 2008 (edited) I've been toying with the idea of an electric car for a while now. This one (http://www.phoenixmotorcars.com/vehicles/phoenix-sut.php) actually seems like it could work. Since there is only a 100 mile range, my wife would have to keep our regular SUV so I could take it on days that I had a 50+ mile drive each way. It also seems like I could probably charge it at work (just have a teamster plug it in like they plug in the camera truck). They make an SUV and an SUT. Another all electric SUV I'm thinking about is this one (http://www.zapworld.com/electric-vehicles/electric-cars/zap-x) is more of a bad ass but not out until February 2009. By going totally solar on our house (which actually works in Miami) I'll be totally zero emissions as I'll be charging my electric car with solar power. I was going to go through ZAP.com as well but apparently they were making claims that were not correct , or something along those lines . . .they are in a law suit I heard . . . In any case maybe next year I'll take out my little 3 liter engine and replace it with 10,000 cell phone batteries in series and vroom off we go . . . . .LOL . . . . Premium Members Jon Beattie Posted March 14, 2008 Premium Members Report Share Posted March 14, 2008 I've been following the MDI Air cars for about a year or so now. Very cool vehicles which run on compressed air! A father and son team started the company in France. The make a pickup and a van unit. It would be great to go to a service station and fill up for 50 cents. As of now the all compressed air vehicles are more for urban use. They do have a range of over a 100miles so you may be able to use it as a comuter also. 3 minutes to fill via compresser and 4 hours with the build in compresser plugged into a stinger. $12-$16k http://www.cyber-media.com/aircar/ http://www.theaircar.com/acf/air-cars/air-cars.html Also subaru just started showing their turbo diesel's in europe and they will go onsale there this year. subaru is also working on US versions (our emission standards are higher on diesel than in europe) of all their vehicles in turbo diesel versions and turbo diesel hybrids which will be out in a year or 2. So we'll have awd that can always run on deisel, bio deisel, or waste oil (with a kit.
