Premium Members Charles Papert Posted July 3, 2008 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 3, 2008 If you've ever seen Vivian Kubrick's documentary on the making of "The Shining", this will be a really fun watch--too bad GB wasn't "recreated"...! http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2008/jul/0...&feed=media Anyone here happen to have been the operator? Premium Members David Allen Grove Posted July 3, 2008 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 3, 2008 100% agree. The garrett charactor w/steadicam on wheel chair was totally missing. That's a real shame. If I was the operator I would have really pushed for it. (maybe the operator did and they just couldn't make it work.) Perhaps it was just too hard to find the old steadicam rig? shucks. Would have been great if GB could have played himself. That would have been too good! Premium Members Matt Petrosky Posted July 4, 2008 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 4, 2008 Wow, what an effort for a promo. The set alone is impressive. Thanks for the link Charles. -Matt
Niall Chadwick
Thats a very impressive promo. Thanks for the link. I was wondering about Charles' comment about not showing the steadicam operator. The steadicam sequences were a big part of the film, and they wanted to show the promo from the POV of Kubrick. Maybe they decided that the when you saw the film sequences with the steadicam, that you were in fact seeing the event through Kubrick and maybe wanted to bring that to the promo. Hence why steadicam operator being featured in the promo might have been considered out of place. Might be a good point for discussion Or maybe Im talking complete cobblers! You decide
