Adam Coop
Hi We are currently developing a new monitor for Floatcam FC12 with one of our technology partners. I thought i would test the water to see what the reaction might be from the wider steadicam community as it will also fit other rigs and may be of interest. It is a 7" 800 x 480 Sunlight viewable LCD monitor (1100 nits, dimmable and 200:1 contrast) in a rugged but lightweight Aluminium housing. We have kept it to just CVBS and SD comp inputs to keep the price down whilst maximising the quality of the LCD panel. It will be available with DV type, and AB or V-lock battery mounts, and currently uses a 12v DC input, although we will probably change this to 4pin XLR depending on what the general opinion is. We think it fills a whole in the current market between non-daylight viewable monitors which whilst well spec'd arent great outside or in backlit situations, and the high-end £2k+ serious hardware that is great, but means selling a kidney... We looked at SDI (HD and SD) inputs etc, as well as frameline generators and digital bubbles, but that just puts it slap bang in the middle of the £2k+ market, which kind of misses the point! This monitor should appeal to steadicam operators on a budget but who need a good daylight viewable monitor, and more high end operators who need a straight forward, dependable monitor as a back up. Price is likely to be sub £1k + vat depending on final spec, but we will also be offering the first 10 units at a considerable discount. We will soon also be adding a new 15mm bar style monitor bracket with 1", 1.5" or 2" post clamps for £279 - 299 + vat (depending on post size). First 10 units will be priced at £249 + vat for all sizes. Any thoughts (or pre-orders!) would be appreciated... Cheers Adam Coop 0845 094 1138 adam@floatcam.co.uk For full specs see below: 7?
