max volokh
strongly recommend to use the LiIon batteries (like IDX, Dionix, Logocam etc) in double pack (two in parallel commutation) because the normal output from that batteries is about 6Amp at summer warm temperature (about +20 celsium) BFD + M-one 3A (max), RED about 2.5A , D/A converter 2A, Monitor in cold wether up to 2A, video sender (my WeWi) 1A about 10 Ampere 8-) You need the pair of LiIon Batt, and power connections for 15 A My 2 cents
Premium Members Brant S. Fagan SOC Posted February 16, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 16, 2009 Gents-- Two major factors are contributing to the tripping of the breaker. 1. Power draw. 2. Wire size. Due to the power draw, the wires are unable to handle the draw given the power supply. When I built my first sled, I automatically upgraded the wiring way beyond the current accepted "standard." Today, my sled has 14AWG power lines running up the post. I have never thus far been able to trip any breakers due to power draw and consumption. Just getting a bigger battery does not change the power draw from the motor. You can only send so much current through so little wire. To make things better, you can use the "old" wire as a pull to get the new larger wire through the post. Premium Members Ed Moore Posted February 16, 2009 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted February 16, 2009 Thank you Max and Brant - amazing how something which can provoke so much head scratching and frustration in the heat of moment is actually incredibly simple once your head is in the right gear. I'll try paralleling the batteries together first, if that doesn't help I'll try the PowerCubes, and if that doesn't work I'll investigate the cable. Cheers,
