Jay Ryde Posted June 11, 2009 Report Share Posted June 11, 2009 (edited) Is there an 'optimum method' on the Pilot to Dynamically steady the rig? Recently I purchased the SteadiCam Op Guide .. you know, the Grey coloured one! and I must admit, I really wished I'd purchased it sooner.. a very complete and informative read for someone like myself who is still in the learning process. However, the Op guide advises moving the bottom rod (the rod holding the battery and monitor) to acquire a 'Quick Dynamic Balance' whereas the thin users guide and the users video for the pilot mentions nothing of this but only to move the Monitor and Battery independently of each other? Am I just being too picky here? or is there something I should be aware of in this case? Here is my 2 cents. 1) Static balance your rig. 2) spin it flat. 3) if it dips front or back move either the monitor or battery in or out a lot. 4) restatic balance it. 5) spin it again. Did that help or hurt? 6) now you know which way to go. 7) do it again until you pan flat. Should take under 10 min. Personally I'm not a stickler for this. I have been doing it the way you have suggested which of course does work, but generally takes me longer than 10minutes to achieve a (close) dynamacially steadi rig!!! I moved the bottom bar and seemed to get a faster result but that could have just been luck! However, as Im a relative beginner to SteadiCam I wasnt sure if there was a 'preferred method'?.
