Hey everyone,

I was at the HD expo in Chicago today and the rep from IDX told me they don't make the powercubes any more.

Then he told me about their new model the IDX E-HL9S, he claims it's as goods.

I was just wondering if anyone had any thought or more info on that.

And sorry if that topic has been discussed before.

Best, Sebastien.

Just emailed IDX, they said:

"Like you said, they are almost identical!

The PowerCube was originally a request from Tiffen due to the high consumption demands from the Steadicam systems. However, the traditional camera / ENG market also started to demand this so the IDX product line also took this direction!

The cell type is very slightly different meaning that the only difference in specification is:

E-HL9S Max Discharge: 10A (at 120W)

PowerCube Max Discharge: 10A (at 110W)

Also, IDX now classifies the capacity as a MINIMUM expected capacity where the specification on the PowerCube is NOMINAL or AVERAGE. Therefore the capacities are:

E-HL9S Nominal Capacity 6.00Ah / 14.8v = 88.8Wh

PowerCube Minimum Capacity 6.15Ah / 14.4v = 88.6Wh

Apart from the above, the specifications are almost identical and both products will fulfil your needs!"

The powercube is more expensive than the 9S aswell. Hope that's of help.

Any thoughts anyone?
