Premium Members Erwin Landau Posted June 15, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 15, 2009 So anybody feel different now that we are Digital in the US? It happened this Friday... anybody even realized? Any Horror Stories? Is your Modulus or Canatrans now a nice paper weight? Doesn't look like it... as life goes on, but just wondering. It feels like a second Y2K scare to me. A lot of baloney... Or did it actually improve? That would be my guess, all these Telemundo channels silenced... and I'll test it if I ever work again... Premium Members Jess Haas SOC Posted June 15, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 15, 2009 Theoretically things should be better than they were right before the switch since all of the stations were already broadcasting in HD as well as SD. It was getting a bit crowded which seemed to cause some problems. I wasn't having much trouble here in LA but Vegas was a mess which may have more to do with other RF sources. ~Jess
Premium Members Sydney Seeber Posted June 15, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 15, 2009 Are you kidding me? They shut off the bandwidth! Now nothing works! Sennheiser makes this cup-and-string thing that's supposed to work really well. It's new, you probably haven't heard of it.
Premium Members Jess Haas SOC Posted June 15, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 15, 2009 I thought it had to be an aluminum can and spiderwire coated in lisigav in order to transmit a video image? Maybe thats just for HD.... ~Jess
Premium Members David Shawl SOC Posted June 15, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 15, 2009 I scanned the UHF band with my handheld monitor the day after the shutoff and only found one channel remaining. It was a Spanish network running a commerical about the DTV switchover. For the time being, I expect my Modulus and receiver to perform better with less interference! Premium Members Brad Hruboska Posted June 16, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 16, 2009 All I know is I had the wevi on a Red job yesterday and everytimne I shouldered the rig, I could hear Elvis Presley..... BTW has anyone tested the WEVI for emf and what its doing to our heads? Is it like 10 cell phones worth of microwaves or what is going on? Some here have expressed real concern. Premium Members Charles Papert Posted June 16, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 16, 2009 Brad: I recall that I did ask one of the manufacturers (either Wevi or Boxx) and was told that it was similar to a cell phone, but I'd like to get documentation on this too.
