thin flexible hd cable

Hello all,

Let me start off by saying if this is a repeat question, I'm sorry. I'm going to be starting a tv series

with a genesis and production is trying to get an HD transmitter/receiver. If they don't, I'm sure they want me to fly with a hard unflexible hd cable. It's fy first time using the genesis and want to be prepared. Who sells the ultra thin triax cable? How long should it be? the cost?

I've been in Cairo since april and we a lot of the time hard wire to a sony f900. I want to get away from that nasty stiff cable. I'm open to any suggestions. thank you,, Rick

Mogami 2964 is a super flexy slinky 75 ohm HD cable about 3/16" thick. It's probably the nicest quality thin HD cable out there that is not uber-fragile. I use it as the jumper most of the time on my live shows and tethered shows. When Will Arnot was in Las Vegas shooting Blackjack / 21 I brought their DIT 100 ft of it and I think that is what they ended up tethering with on the Genesis.

Mogami 1354 is ultra ultra thin, maybe only 1/16" and thinner than pencil lead. Rob Vuona and I, plus a few others use it for Triax jobs as well but at times I find it too thin and you'll need to double it back on itself at the connectors for added strain relief. Maybe a short run of 1354 to your vest would handle a Genocidal HD signal but you'd have to test it.

You can get all this from BTX including connectors, crimpers etc.. For the 1354 I had Terry West make them since it's like soldering a piece of hair.

Also, Steve Fracol lives tethered the the Genesis on Sons of Anarchy... he can probably add a tremendous amount of insight.

Good luck!

Robert

Rick:

Panavision will make you the cables you need. I've tried some other recommendations and haven't found them a marked improvement over these. The nice thing about using the Pana BNC's is that you can blame them if anything gets screwed up...
