Premium Members Colin Donahue Posted July 31, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted July 31, 2009 I have an Archer, (first version) it is about 4 years old. A problem just came up in my shoot this morning. I balanced the camera did the spin. Decent dyanamic balance, not great, but had to go with it. I noticed when I rechecked the drop time, the camera would not come back to level on the tilt axis. I would re adust to level, drop again, (3 second drop) and it would be tilted the other way. I rechecked it at least 20 times. I checked everything on the camera and sled see if something was moving but couldnt find a problem. After the shoot I stripped the camera bare and tried again, and same problem. Is this a gimbal problem? I have no ideal how to take apart the gimbal or examine it. I cannot even get the screws off that attached the yoke, they are on so tight. I have a call into Tiffen but I have not heard back. Anybody know what is up? Premium Members Colin Donahue Posted July 31, 2009 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted July 31, 2009 Brian, thanks for the links. I read some past posts, but did not see yours. After more investigation, I think I found the problem. There is quite a large gap between the yoke handle and the gimbal.... at least 1/16 of an inch. The gimbal is sliding back and forth as the sled is tilted. I cant believe I did not notice this before. Here is a pic. Try contact with Robin Twaites... Tiffen´s crew... Your problem with the gimbal is not normal, but the post sales of Tiffen rules right. Good luck. If you need some help, be free to e-mail me. Best regards
