Premium Members Colin Donahue Posted August 24, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 24, 2009 I am shooting in Las Vegas this week at a location that hires Local 720. As a 600 member, do I have to make any special arrangements? I appreciate any help. Colin

Colin As far as I know, 720 does not have jurisdiction over camera crew. 720 covers Stagehands, Gaffers, Grips, Props, etc. Local 600 covers all of the Western states including Nevada. You might want to bring along a body guard, however. Just kidding.
Premium Members Kris Torch Wilson Posted August 24, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 24, 2009 Colin, You won't have any problems at all. As Lawrence said, 600 covers Vegas as well. The challenge of course is not loosing all your per diem the first night! Torch

Colin Colin, No worries, if you have any problems "I'll make a phone call", say that last part in your best mafia Italian accent . . . .LOL . . . . Honestly no worries your good, we shoot there 10 times a year. If you need a great AC or utility there let me know and as Chris said, don't loose your per Diem the first night! Premium Members Robert Starling SOC Posted August 27, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 27, 2009 Hi Colin, you won't have a problem here in Las Vegas as the 600 supersedes 720 for camera ops. I'm 600 and a member of 720 as well just to show local support and sometimes knowing the locals helps move things along a bit. By the same token, Local 720 has been on a mission lately to organize more shows and projects that come to town and they've been very actively working with IATSE and other locals in the process. Several shows in the last few months have struck and have been picketed; I definitely wouldn't cross those lines as most of the Local 720 leadership have Italian last names. ;-} Seriously! Good luck, drink plenty of water and give me a call if there's anything I can do to help you while you're here. Robert
Premium Members Colin Donahue Posted September 1, 2009 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted September 1, 2009 Just wanted to say that the vegas shoot with local 720 went off with out a hitch. Afer mountains of paperwork and contracts, our 720 guy could not show up, so we used the Local Pa to help us out. No problems from any of the casinon ends. Only problem was a shot of $34,000,000 on a table at ceasears in cash and chips. Some chips were $25,000 each. Iwas tempted to pocket one or two, but managed to restrain myselft. I got a kick out of shooting in the high roller suites with bowling alleys, basketball courts, Indoor swimingpools, and full butler staff at the wainting I might want to get some more info on a westcam unit . the stuff we did last week was all colorbars for 30 minutes. Had to reshoot yesterday. Colin
