Canon 5dmk2

Recommended Posts

Hey all you fellow flyers!! I recently picked up a canon 5d mk2 and I'm wanting to figure out some kind of setup for use on the steadicam pilot. I know that because of lightweight, the pilot just might do a great job with it, under the right settings. I'm just curious if anyone else here has a 5d/pilot setup and if they'd be soo kind as to share some pictures and some info on setup etc. Thanks in advance:)

Regards

There isn't much to share... It's the perfect size for a Pilot, assuming you're not using it with a 400mm 2.8 lens. I don't own a Pilot, but I do have the Canon, and I've used it several times with multiple smaller rigs, as well as bigger ones. My favorite setup with this camera is the Merlin. It takes all of 2 minutes or so to set it up and balance it, so that's why I'm saying there's not much to it

Ever since I started operating on weddings, the rest of the film crew has been getting inspired by the dynamic shots we can get with a Steadicam. The 5D MK2 is HUGE with wedding videographers, and last night one of the guys decided to throw it on a cheap-o glidecam setup and was able to create an INCREDIBLY dynamic shot. Granted, I could achieve the same thing without as many takes, but he had a 16mm lens on in a dim reception hall that the HD video cameras just can't replicate. I swear by the 5D (in a wedding setting) because it can see more than our eyes can! Just through the lens looks better than anything you could do in post to jazz up the footage..
