Looks like the interface may be simple enough but can't really tell without trying. Probably only records 320x240 but what can you expect for $60? If anyone wants to try it the coupon xmas09 will get you 20% off.

I have ordered 3rd party archos accessories from them before and the quality frankly sucked but they were cheap so I wasn't expecting much. Their archos 404 replacement battery had far less capacity than the original and after a year the capacity is even worse although it hasn't blown up like the original archos one did.

I am happy with my archos but it intrigued me so I thought someone else might want to try it. Might have use for it in the future if it has promise but not at the moment. If someone does order one post here to let us know so we don't have a bunch of people ordering it if it ends up being a POS.

I've tried a couple of these cheap imports (and some not so cheap) and have always found them frustrating to use and somewhat unreliable. You never know when one might do the trick however. Usually what kills me is that to switch between play and record modes you have to cycle through a menu with other options like "mp3s" and "photos" etc. which I'm not going to have time to do while walking back to one with the rig on.

Well, I'm gonna try this out. If I have to return it cause it's just not good enough, I'll be out very little. And if it turns out to be good enough, I'll be happy to have saved $100 or so for the short run. In the long run I'm quite sure I'll end up with an Archos, but if this delivers what it promises, it is all I need for now.

that said, Kevin, have you tried it yet, if so, what are your thoughts? If not, I'm the guinea pig and shall report back with links to footage from it.

Charles, in another thread you mentioned you were talking to another company about a "to good to be true" (not your words) recorder that was still developing. Any word on that?

Hi Brian:

Yeah, I'll have to check back with them to see if they have any forward movement on this. Thanks for the reminder.

Just as I was about to modify two Nnovia A2D recorders, I now find myself a guinea pig for the nanoFlash, which is probably good because of the HD recording capability anyway. If anyone is interested in the A2D's (which record at DV image quality--one I've updated with a SSD drive, impervious to G-forces), let me know, I'll be selling shortly for around $500.

I take it back. I got a good deal on a factory sealed Archos 405 and refurbished DVR adapter (yay Ebay!) Assuming all is well when I receive them, I'll mod the DVR adapter as I've seen others have done. All told, I'll probably have spent less than double this cheaper one would have been, and I'll have twice the resolution, and only a couple more ounces of weight. I keep adding ounces here and there, so it's been a tough decision! But I think the compromise is worth it.

Now, where (and how) to mount the thing...
