Premium Members RobVanGelder Posted September 27, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 27, 2004 Eric I am convinced that your metallurgic knowledge exceeds mine. But could you give some more insight in WHY those Ti-mounts broke, and as far as I have read now, no mounts from other metals? BTW, I just checked my socketblock (iron) as well and it also shows some imprint from the screws. But I see this, as long as it is on the surface, as normal wear. Premium Members Ramon Engle Posted September 29, 2004 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted September 29, 2004 OK, here's my solution. Commonly known as an Acron Nut, not kidding, seems to work just. I did have to grind the edges off of the hex drive. The curviture fits perfectly. The real test will be underload and to see if the nuts will allow for enough pitch adjustment. Anybody see any issues? Ramon Engle
Mitch Gross
Careful. I've seen bolts cut their way through the top of those nuts when cranked down with wrenches. Don't think this would be an issue for you, but you may have to occassionally replace the nuts (like every few years).
