Premium Members Steve Acheson Posted December 18, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 18, 2009 Hey, I was wondering what people are using for stickers to label their brackets, cables, etc... everything. I would love to be able to put my name, contact info, and a inventory number... Any ideas???

Premium Members Jess Haas SOC Posted December 18, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 18, 2009 Who did the laser etching and roughly what did it cost? For cables a printed label with clear shrink tubing over it seems to work well. ~Jess
Premium Members Ari Gertler Posted December 18, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 18, 2009 I have used labeled shrink tubbing for cables in the past, but hopefully one of the cable/wiring experts can let me know if there is any danger using a heat gun on the cables.?. (Jim?) The P-Touch is great especially if the production is buying all the expensive labels, but they can come off, especially if someone decides they want to make it their own. Etching sounds like a great permanent option.

Premium Members Steve Acheson Posted December 19, 2009 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted December 19, 2009 shrink wrap is great if the cable is being made... what if the cable is already made??
Premium Members nick franco Posted December 19, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 19, 2009 I had some engraving done at a local trophy shop, both laser and mechanical. Don't remember the cost.
Premium Members Jess Haas SOC Posted December 19, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 19, 2009 shrink wrap is great if the cable is being made... what if the cable is already made?? I guess it depends on the size of the connectors but I have watched Terry do it to one of my cables after it was made so it is possible. Been meaning to buy some of the clear shrink and some labels so I can label my others. ~Jess
Premium Members Simon Jayes Posted December 26, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 26, 2009 For cables that are already assembled, I use an inkjet label that has a built-in clear wrap...... JET-30-117-2 by Brady
Premium Members Lawrence Karman Posted December 26, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 26, 2009 For cables Radio Shack sells little packs of labeling strips you can write on. For marking the gear a fine point paint pen is a cheap alternative. Of course none of this is as cool as Eric's trained engraving sharks with frickin laser beams on their heads. Premium Members RonBaldwin Posted December 27, 2009 Premium Members Report Share Posted December 27, 2009 I use sharpies and crayons. I also use the bad fried foods and pizza at crafty to my advantage...I make sure my fingerprints are all over my rig for identification if stolen (note to self: do not leave any of my gear behind while robbing a bank). rb

Lawrence, are those the self laminating write on labels you refer to? like here: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.js...oductId=2103486 are they durable, good against humidity and do they come of easily or not? thanks for some insights, Jerry
