Dionic HC's on XCS sled

Hey Matt!

Since it seems you have had your HC's for at least a little while, do you have any comment as to their longevity? I

have mentioned it before but I have had incredibly good luck with 2 Hytron 50's and a 140 for my monitor. A 435 seems to be about my 3rd or 4th most common camera and I'm frequently running at high speed. A few of my 50's are getting a bit long in the tooth and I was thinking of getting a few HC's. It sounds like for the most part people seem to like them?

Interestingly it seems that the same question are always coming up about the Dionic HC's

for all intents and purposes they are a Dionic 90, the difference is that the HC stands for High Current, the HC's can pass a 20amp transient load and a 10amp continuous load, where the Dionic 90 is only good for a 13 amp spike (2C) and a 6.5 amp continuous load (1C)

They will not run longer than a Dionic 90, they also have the same shelf life (2-3 years) and same cycle life (~200 iirc)

The HC is 1.8lbs and the Dionic 90 is 1.7lbs

...2 Hytron 50's and a 140 for my monitor...

wow, that's a load of batts! Over 9 lbs...but it's nice to have tons of power though! I've never owned the d-90's but so far the hc's are working well in my limited anton bauer experience. They were $420 at Band Pro in Dec so I bet they are even less now.

I was just flying an f-35 on a pilot -- powering the camera (no deck), tb-6, preston, camwave, and cinetape off one hc and one d-160 for every shot all day. In addition to my lower disc, I'd go through maybe 4 or 5 hc's and 3 d-160's. I didn't try it with only 2 hc's, I only have 6 and I knew with the amount we were doing on the steadicam I'd go through them faster than I could charge them.

Weird. When i use the dionic 90 on a wireless HD camera ( wich loves power ) i get 60 minuts max. ( if the dionic 90 is in good shape )

Same setup but with the HC i get 90 minuts. so the hold more juice? Or am i missing something.

Same capacity as the Dionic 90 just lower internal resistance which may contribute to longer run times in a high load condition due to lower voltage droop

i hate having to turn my monitor on and off, especially on hd jobs. with the 140 i can pretty much turn it on at call and leave it on until wrap. the 2 50's last (on a 24 volt camera) any where from a third of the day to much less than that depending on how much film were shooting. i also like the extra weight of the 140 as it makes up for the loss in weight going from a greenie to my 8.4.

Hi Guys,

I've been using only HC's on my XCS rig for a while now, with excellent results - so much so that all my other batteries have died though lack of use! I have been using them with Arricam's and 435's (at high speed) with no problems at all. I have used them in hot environments with no problems at all.

However, to this date I haven't had any experience with these batteries and any HD camera system.

Looking forward to the HCX's.....
