Flying with the Klassen Harness

Hi Bryan,

I've taken mine on a transatlantic flight and a 'domestic' European flight as it is, no bag or anything. Just asked the flight attendant to store it in a closet nearby, or put it in the overhead compartment. All I did was remove the carbon arm , which I put in my checked bags. Another thing I did was take a copy of the invoice with me along with a picture of me wearing the vest and the rig, in case of questions... which were never asked.

I'm sure some people would think I'm nuts doing this, but it worked great...

Have a safe trip!

Sven

I asked Walter what would be safe and he said leave it in the bag. Guess it would break my heart to have the bag tossed around and saw crazy things happen with baggage during flight. So I bought a Pelicase 1620. The harness fits right in.

The 1620? Do you have to remove the arm from the back?

I have a 1660 that I take on set now. I fit a little run bag in there as well but it is big.

Yes, I take the arm off and put it in there with the vest. Fits right in without the foam. Walter made my backpiece very high since I am tall. So I guess others in regular shapes should fit, too.

I use a surplus military Barracks box, its very light, has a lock, and is pretty robust, so you get a few more pounds of allowable weight in the capacity. I got mine from my Ex- wife's dad who was in the Canadian military, but i am sure they are at surplus stores...The harness fits, i take off the arm ,and front plate ( i have the four strap model )and there is room for the arm and hardmount, and anything else up to the shipping limit. Which is 45 lbs for a single and 70 lbs for a double sized. ( I think).....

P.S.

Was at a buddy's Army surplus store here and he had a great price on Pelican 1630 cases, new, which is plenty big enough for the harness, arm, and a few smaller pelicans if you like. $249.99 CAD. Armyissue.com.

Ask for Jerune Vrakking.
