Just finish the first stage of testing the new ActionProducts HD 8.4 monitor. I like it. -21 celsium 20 minuts static tast: no problem, no frizzing, very bright for the sunlight at the snow day.

10 hours at -3-7 celsium about 95-98 hum, steadicam job. Very good angels. The brightens and contrast in the 50% positions.

It's heavy about 2 kg (4.4 pound) in a strong aircraft aluminum body, screen under the durable glass. snow/rain proof buttons.

In low bright I even can't catch if it really switch on according the battery, very low power consumption. In sunbright it using battery a little bit more but less then my Cinema 3a.

Steel in testing. Ask a quastions 8-)

What is the accessory on the rear of the camera which you have multiple plugs in?

That is an Action Products power pack. It's a little break out box with Red power in and out as well as 3 2pin lemo accessory power ports. the Power in comes from the bottom of the sled. (the Swap Pack) up the post. The Powerbox is mountable on 19mm rods basically anywhere you need power.

Cheers,

Joshua

What I want to know is when and how much is your U-lex(actionproducts?) Follow focus system that you also have mounted on your rig going to be available? Also, is there anywhere we can see a demo video of it?

On the note of the monitor.

I was recently in Switzerland and stopped by the Action products shop to see the High bright Monitor. Daryl and I went for a walk around outside his shop, with a Red and IDX transmitter and their monitor... I was very impressed at the view-ability in direct sunlight as well as anywhere else. as you can see from Max's photos.

The build of the monitor is superb. All CNC'd aluminum. The same quality as their Rigs. A very tough anti-reflective replaceable piece of glass is used to save the Lcd from any pokes from your favorite Director's or Dp's curious fingers. As well as a hard knock from anything else.

It has many connections. HDSDi to DVI which if you happen to use a 5d, 7d, or 1d mark 4 will easily connect via an HDMI to DVI cable... That is if your rig allows you to put different cables through the post. (ActionProducts rigs are set up to let you put anything you please through them.)

All in all The panel is very crisp High Resolution (1024x768) easy to use well built little sucker, Pretty weather proof as well... I wouldn't say waterproof because there are a couple of very small vents on the sides but you could probably get a little rain on it without having a heart palpitation.

One of the benefits of using ActionProducts with Red One is original power check up of Red from the Sled powerBoxes

You could also change the batteries one by one with out shutting the camera, and you can switch off the accessories by one batten on PowerBox powering the camera at the same time

about U-Lex. now it's on the final line of testing. Swiss people are perfectionists. As far as I know, they have some U-Lex for test drive in Switzerland in there office. Now I'll making the Russian Winter Test for both the monitor and U-Lex. I'm one of developers of this focus system. You know... When Brian and Daryl began to make there HD monitor one and half year ago, thy just wont to make the chip option for ActionCam. But this men can't do low end. The quality of picture, the angels, the body... all is excellent! As DP previously I use Transvideo HD 8 and always have a problems with angels and resolution quality and transvideo slowing visually about 2-4 frames. No slowing at ActionProduct HD 8 at all even at frost. Now Brian and Daryl together with us (software laboratory, MKBK and me) finishing the software tests. Hardware is ready 8-) What you see on the picts is the testing prototype.

As far as I saw there are no user adjustable frame lines like your talking about Charles. At least on the monitor. U-lex is obviously a whole different animal, one which I would love to see.

If you ever used the Carrion I believe some of the electronics and the menu system are the same. I'm not sure to what extent they are the same. Apperently there is a different controller card...? I haven't seen the Nebtek although I want to take it for a spin someday. It would be nice to compare.
