Afternoon all,

Well its probably time I said hello instead of just poring through the archives.

I’ve been around for about 5 years as a Cam-op slash occasional DP and long time wandering photographer. I tend to shoot commercials and corporate works with the occasionally poorly funded short or feature appearing sporadically.

Late last year did a workshop with Phil Balsdon at steadi-onfilms here in Aus then had the interesting experience of explaining to the blank faced man behind the desk at my bank what a Steadicam was and why I needed it.

Starting small I’ve picked up the Flyer LE, probably need something bigger soon but so far its handled everything I’ve thrown at it and seems to be a good rig to hone my skills on.

Every chance I’ve had for the past few months I’ve chased, tracked hounded every person (and various small animals) unlucky enough to visit me.

Bringing me to yesterday where I picked up my first real paid Steadicam job. Nothing terribly strenuous, DP/Steadi Op on a music video in a green screen studio. Overall everything went fairly well, client was ecstatic and at the time I was fairly happy how things went. Though interesting enough one day later looking back at the footage I managed to siphon off, I reckon I could probably do better. I guess it’s a case of the more experienced you get the more discerning you become.

Anyway hello and thankyou for all the info I've learnt from the forums so far, I’ll most probably have many foolish (hopefully not to foolish) questions for everyone in the near distant future.

On a side note if any Aus Ops (or visiting ops) want to have a beer (its my shout) or need some one to lug around stuff for them my carting and drinking skills are exemplary.

Cheers

Aaron
