Looking for weights that can slide onto a 15mm rod...

For a non-Steadicam project, I'm trying to find compact weights between .75 and 1.5 lbs that already have a 15mm or smaller center hole, or are simply solid. Trying to keep it simple rather than overloading my already overloaded machinist by giving him a block of heavy metal to fabricate these. Anyone have a line on anything like this?

thanks

Last time I was at industrial metal supply they had a number of precut round pieces of metal that would probably work well for this. No center holes but if you need a hand with the holes I can drill a 15mm hole in them for you and could drill and tap a set screw or some sort of clamping mechanism as well.

Hi Charles,

Strange you should mention this, I have been thinking about making something like this for a while. I planned on using Tungsten carbide, which is 40% heavier than lead for volume, and apparently its the second hardest thing on the planet, next to diamond.

Can cut it like butter with the wire though, so it would be easy to make some weights.

How big do you want, can do them pretty easily and send them over....

Pete.

Gents-- For holding round things on round things, nothing beats a pair of shaft collars, either one- or two-piece collars in either steel or aluminum. I use Reid Supply for parts like this as they have a great selection of sizes and material types.

3/4 inch= 19.05 with our bushing reducers might fit to use on 19mm rods.
