Premium Members Robert Starling SOC Posted February 12, 2010 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted February 12, 2010 Ski goggles would be great if I can find a pair that fit over my glasses. The ash you were in must have been extra nasty. As for respirators I don't care what it looks like as long as it seals properly and I can still breath easily through it. It's all about the canister and filter type you use. Time to dig out the workbook from my union safety class. Probably a half-face mask such as these: Respirators link Eric mentioned a respirator brand at lunch the other day that was not 3M but I forgot the name of it. Premium Members Jess Haas SOC Posted February 12, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 12, 2010 You could of course go with a full face respirator and not need the goggles. You would also be well prepared for when you get attacked by tear gas.... ~Jess
Premium Members nick franco Posted February 13, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 13, 2010 Lots of over glasses motocross goggles. http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/search.do?keyword=otg
Premium Members Mark Karavite Posted February 16, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 16, 2010 If you want to go all out, several ski goggles can be ordered with your RX. I have a pair of Bolle for skiing (and most recently snowblowing my driveway).
Premium Members Philip J. Martinez SOC Posted February 17, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted February 17, 2010 Hi Robert, How do you like stacking your Batteries, as seen in the picture? How do they drain with two on top and one on the bottom like that in 24volt mode? I’m going to need to buy new batteries soon. I’m thinking of Power Cubes or IDX E-HL9 Lithium Ion V-Mount Battery. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/6328...#specifications What do you think? I like having the “Steadicam Logo” on all my stuff but I think I need to get over it.

Hey Philip! Sorry for the delayed response! I like stacking the batteries; about half of my dozen batteries are PowerCubes and the other half are IDX E10 stackables. (BTW, careful with saying E10s when you order because the "S" is non-stackable... learned that the hard way). Frankly I wish my PowerCubes stacked too. The stacking has been very helpful with balancing odd rig/camera builds and keeping a shorter post. When stacked it simply acts like one big 12v per side. My rig has been customized to allow parallel, series, direct and via DC converter power options and also the ability to hot-swap batteries which I could not do before. They all seem to discharge at about the same rate but the third battery makes a substantial difference. We're off topic at this point but why are you looking at the E-HL9 at 88wh versus the E10 at 98wh? As to having the Steadicam brand name on them, I'm pretty sure they all come from IDX but I'm told the PowerCubes are better at higher amperage demands. Mixing different brand parts was alien to me at first too but a LOT of people run hybrid rigs / monitors / arms / vests. It seems like the more specialized or critical operators become in their work, the less "all-in-one-box" seems to fit. MODS: Feel free to split this out of the thread and re-post in batteries if you want. Robert
