New Steadicam Monitor

This changing to low mode business I don't think is so great. Currently all I need to do is Tilt my TB6 right up and move my batteries backwards and I am balanced for low mode. I can do this with the rig on about to do a shot. This yoke setup definitely requires me to dock the sled. Unless off-course there will be a yoke to CP2 spud adapter so I could tilt the whole yoke upwards and retaining the best of both worlds.

 

This monitor looks very cool by the way.

 

Edit: I've just noticed that there is an XCS spud at the bottom of it. For my purposes I would like it to be an articulated and kiplocked spud (as we are used to) for either XCS or CP2. This would enable me to send my monitor arm out, tilt my whole cinetronic setup and move my batteries backwards quicker than an AD can say "lowmode"

Just sent my money to Cinetronic without seeing the monitor in action. I am an avid reader of this forum and thanks to it's many contributors, I don't consider that I'm taking a risk sending 5g's to this company .

Next interesting reading will be Charles Papert Transmitter's debacle .

 

Starting a TV series for 90 days flying Alexa so I'll be able to review the monitor in many different settings .

I would love that the monitor included something like an onboard recorder that captured the video signal itself reaching the monitor with the ability to review shots to keep for insitu and reels.

Rumor has it that the Blackmagic Hyperdeck might actually exist somewhere :-) When we can get our hands on one, we will make up a bracket, so it can fit on the back of the monitor.

A bracket might be better than an internal recorder. I for one have seen the onboard recorder market go through multiple generations of format and product throughout the life-span of my TB-6. Can you imagine if the TB-6 had a built in 8mm recorder?

I'll second Alec- internal recorder would become obsolete very quickly. Remember when they used to do small tube TV-s with built-in VHS players? Weren't very useful as I remember. Maybe the first month when you bought them.

 

Let me know when you have the thinner version of 7'' Cinemonitor. Beer truck version is a bit too wide- you would have to walk with x-legs so you wouldn't bump into a monitor with your knees.

I would rather have a cube shape monitor.

And numbers for horizon- I'm also against.

 

So line me up in the que!

 

So far with the old Master monitor- beats all the LCD- until now.. :)

Ant, it's not an internal recorder, it's a bracket for a Blackmagic.

 

The present size is not a problem and it's actually smaller than the 8" Tiffen LCD

 

Master monitor being the best? Not by a longshot, bit the Pro and especially the TB-6 kill the master's monitor

If I could bolt some kind of v-lock plate into the back of it I could even slot it straight onto the back of my monitor, definitely going to check one of these out in person.

Maybe if I screwed or glued something like this to the back it would work nicely:

It's a great price for the device, but keep in mind that the hard drives you use MUST be fast enough to record uncompressed HD. After looking at specs in another thread, this really only leaves SSD drives as an option, and large enough drives to get you through a day will likely cost an excess of $1,000.

 

Personally, I'm looking at the Atomos Samurai for a recording option: HDMI and HD-SDI inputs, records in Apple ProRes to SDD or standard 2.5" HDD (SATA connections), supports playback, etc. The unit costs $1495, but the HDD drives cost as low as $60.
