One of the reasons why we offer demo monitors is so people can do their own shootout, under the conditions that work for them. This way you can see for yourself, if it fits your needs or not. We are also very open to suggestions, if there are features you would like to see, or have any ideas that would make the product better for you, please let us know. We would like to see this product evolve into what works best for everyone, and not just dictate on how we think it should work.

(look at the Nebtek and Actioncam).

I wish I could but you can't see those monitors in the sunlight

Eric, I 've been using the Nebtek in sunlight and have no problems seeing the image. I've made a yoke for it allowing me to adjust the viewing angle for any reflective issues without changing the sled balance.

Robert was kind enough to allow me to put on his rig at NAB and take that new monitor outside for a look. The image was sharp and daylight viewable. If it upscales SD, which I did not see first hand, then that is a very good feature. My only negative impression was, to me, it seemed wide as a beer truck, but according to Robert and in a previous post, Chris says he is working on making the monitor less wide. Perhaps only as wide as the screen. While in practical terms the width may not affect the operating, it was just so different from the green screen and LCD widths I have been used to using to give me pause.

The point is, that with the Cinetronic monitor you don't need to change the viewing angle to see it. you can operate it tabled with no regard for sun angle or cloud cover. It's the first LCD that has the viewing angle, sharpness and brightness to equal or exceed the TB-6 and that is the reason I changed monitors and sold my TB-6

The Cinetronic is upscaling SD, I've never seen a Arricam LT tap look so good. The housing you saw is not the final housing, Like chris has posted they are designing new controller boards which will make the new housing quite a bit narrower.

I'm curious if the Cinetronic upscales SD - for those with fully SD rigs, that downconvert HD signals for their monitors, transmitters and/or recorders, will this present any sort of visible lag in the image? Downconverting first, then upconverting again?

Why would you downconvert HD? the Cinetronic does HD...

Does it also magically convert all the cabling in an SD sled to HD too? Because if it did, that would definitely be a game changer. Right Charles?

And no, running an external cable is not a viable option either.

Maybe their sleds are not HD compatible or they don't have the option of dual video runs down the post to segregate an HD feed to the monitor and then a downconverted feed to their SD transmitters / recorders?

The XCS has definitely spoiled me.

Robert

The PRO HD wiring has dual video processing as well, just for the record...2 independent coaxial video lines down the post...

is there a special reason to mount the monitor that low? What's the thought behind it?

Weight down low is better for balancing heavier cameras and allows a shorter post, which many prefer. Also gets the monitor out of the way of the Steadicam arm.

When you get all your masses co-planer (on the same level) it makes for a better flying rig and gives you a few more options operationally like the ability to get closer to a table by stuffing the monitor and leh under the table. Plus like Lawrence said it helps to keep the post shorter

Great, but I hope that the new smaller controller and housing will bring no changes to the overall weight and mass to the monitor/joke...

does this joke come with the spud? looks like it's the XCS version? Is there a PRO version available?
