Iphone FF

I know many people have an iPhone, and that's the first device they'll consider for a transmitter. However, if I were purchasing this system, I'd get an iPod Touch to be the dedicated primary transmitter and the iPhone as a backup. Otherwise, you'll always be paranoid if the phone's radio is in Airplane mode, or if you may get a phone call just at the wrong moment.

The other thread seemed to come to the unanimous conclusion: cool, low cost backup system.

So I guess it's working via WiFi...

But how does it work with the connection?

Is it a direct connection, so iPhone-Follow Focus? Or do you need a WiFi router on set?

So it would be iPhone-Router-FF which is pretty... complex

Because it would suck, if you're on set in the middle of the forest and your wireless hotspot is missing haha

My friend is going to be there Rep for the LA/Socal area. From what I have heard it is a pretty badass unit. It works with any digital motor and is the perfect unit for Iris. I just talked to them a few days ago and they are also coming out with a knob that will attach to the side of your iphone/ipod touch through the docking port in a couple months.

Pretty sure it's a direct connection. They say it's single channel, so most likely 1 transmitter associating to 1 receiver, which sounds like an ad-hoc network (client to client).

Nope, no problems. The fStop system is being used on several film sets in The Real World' right now.....

Are there any reviews, or at least discussion on how people are dealing with potential issues? I mean, wireless audio and video has issues from time to time, and this is relying on what is essentially a consumer device. I'm not saying it doesn't work and if it does that's pretty rad and who knows, I could easily buy one at some point. but I just like to see all sides of the equation.

Mmm, its designed by the same guy that does all the wireless controls for the Libra head, he seems to know what he's doing. Never heard of any problems with reliability, i'm certain its all fine.

It performed fine at NAB and there were Preston systems backfiring all around us.

I will know more in a few weeks, but im pretty sure its all fine for reliability.

Just remember to charge up your iPhone.

Pete.
