Premium Members Santiago Yniguez Posted April 6, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 6, 2010 Hey guys/gals. Just had my website and reel come online. I would love any and all, good and bad feedback on both. Not only critique, but also compatibility with iphones/ipods....etc. Thank you in advance, Santiago http://www.steadisan.com/
Premium Members Emre Tufekci Posted April 6, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 6, 2010 Hi Santiago, I liked your website but it kind of left me wanting more (which is a good thing). I am sure your content will grow as time goes along. I am trying to look at it from a "potential client" point of view, since your website is solely based on steadicam maybe you add content to educate/inform people of how they can utilize your services. Blogs for interested operators and links to other related websites might also prove useful. Again from "client POV" I dont see any reason I should pick you as opposed to any other operator in your area, so a few words (short bio) about yourself would be good. Something that highlights your talents, experience, training and dedication to the craft. On a technical note on your demo reel certain videos have raised black levels, that should definitely be fixed. Hope this helps, Emre To follow up on Robs comments, I had no issues with playback of the video on a PC.
Premium Members RobVanGelder Posted April 6, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 6, 2010 Santiago, it looks good, I see some impressive movements on your real, nice! However, i could just barely see them due some weird compression artifacts, with small and big blocks, delayed images, weird colors, etc. I use a Macbook Pro and the quicktime player could do not much good with it. This lasted the whole reel, some static moments are good, motion is almost unwatchable. Not sure if this is because I am in Thailand.... Best, Rob
Tom Daigon
Nice reel Santiago! I really like the opening shot a lot. There is no playback problems here in Las Vegas. The only clip that I noticed that was a bit washed out (elevated black levels) was the one with the girl carrying flowers from the kitchen. Premium Members Santiago Yniguez Posted April 6, 2010 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted April 6, 2010 Thank you very much fellas! I gotta see what I can do with that clip. I might just have to pull it and use something else. I thought about the bio but since I'm fairly new to the game, I don't have a whole bunch of experiences to share. Up until a few years ago, I was just a camera assistant/ remote head tech. I can talk for days about that. On the other hand, your right, I think I do need to add something else to separate myself. I'll keep trying different types of platforms to see what I get and fix whatever problems there my be. Thanks again for the kind words! I am also pretty new to owning a rig and am in the opposite situation. Lots of site info, but very little reel. : ( You could add a bio section talking about your years as an assistant and how you were able to learn the ins and outs of the business on set, which is what inspired you towards Steadicam. Or something along those lines. Also any projects that you worked on that had special recognition or awards. Keep up the solid work.
