Premium Members mark morgan Posted April 26, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 26, 2010 my modulos powered by the sled, signal from a miranda direct composite signal to modulos not looping thru the monitor, monitor has hd signal from miranda, but when i power up the modulos the monitor blacks out, than i physically grab the antenna on the modulos and the picture comes back grounding issue maybe and this has also happened using an aja downconverter
Premium Members Erwin Landau Posted April 26, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 26, 2010 Hi Mark, Are you torturing my Modulus again? Shame on you... I was wondering... Why does your down converted image as well as the HD signal come from your miranda in the first place? I had issues where the signal that was down converted was not strong enough and just got lost in the cable connections... HD is an iffy signal to begin with.... or it's just me... we'll see. Did you try and run your monitor directly from the camera, as to separate the signal before the down converter? Might be one of those wired signal loses... "signal from a miranda direct composite signal to modulos " Does that mean that you are running power from the rig AND a video cable from the miranda into the Transmitter? The cables that you got with the Transmitter are video/power cables and if you plug in an additional video cable, you are effectively double terminating the video signal... Check and let us know... Aloha, Erwin
Premium Members mark morgan Posted April 27, 2010 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted April 27, 2010 hey erwin thanks for the response, i had the power rewired so it shouldn't be getting video down the cable, but why when i physically hold the antenna the picture comes back up on my sled monitor and yet i never loose picture on the wireless monitor"menehunes"maybe lol Hi Mark, Are you torturing my Modulus again? Premium Members Jess Haas SOC Posted April 27, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 27, 2010 Just a shot in the dark but HD-SDI can be finicky so im thinking maybe it could be possible that insufficient shielding in the video cable is allowing the modulus transmission to interfere with it. When you touch the antenna your body is absorbing some of and/or blocking some of the signal so there is less interference. Try a different HD rated video cable to the monitor and see if that improves things. Interference could also be happening within the miranda... Premium Members Jeff Muhlstock SOC Posted April 27, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 27, 2010 I can say with some certainty, that the Modulus, does and will interfere with HD SDI signals. Put the modulus somewhere else on the sled, far away from any open HDSDI connectors. I Have seen this problem. I will tell you that a Walkie talkie that is too close will black you out (or blue you out) as well. I have experienced these brief black outs with any very close, powerful, RF transmission with an HD monitor.

Premium Members mark morgan Posted April 27, 2010 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted April 27, 2010 i like the shot in the dark jess,i have and i will try different cables again today and i am going to take some tin foil and see if that will help lol "old school" and a big thanks to all Just a shot in the dark but HD-SDI can be finicky so im thinking maybe it could be possible that insufficient shielding in the video cable is allowing the modulus transmission to interfere with it. Premium Members mark morgan Posted April 28, 2010 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted April 28, 2010 here it is the black out was caused by interference so i had forgot the tin foil but i had a CLIF BAR wrapped the wrapper around the antenna and BLAM stable picture hehe
Premium Members mark morgan Posted December 3, 2010 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted December 3, 2010 this is weird "clif" bar wrapper stopped working, i was working with the 435 and no problems from the modulos, 2 days later i am working with the red and i am getting the black outs again, i pull the antenna off of the modulos and my monitor starts working again, plug in the antenna and the picture goes away, man i am stumped
