Then do some comprehensive research about whats new and report to us all any new recorders you have found. There are so many new little gadgets and widgets out there I doubt anyone can keep up. Premium Members Charles Papert Posted May 5, 2010 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 5, 2010 FYI I have two Nnovia A2D's for sale that I was going to build into new cases for onboard recording. DV quality (not MPEG4), BNC ins and outs, GPI trigger and RS232 control available. One has been upgraded to a solid state drive. In the existing cases they weigh 1 lb and are bulky, although one of them has Gold Mounts top and bottom so it can be sandwiched between a battery. I was going to pull the boards and build into new Delrin boxes which would have dropped the weight in half--ended up going with the $3K nanoFlash unit. If anyone is interested, these are $500 each. I have always wanted an ob recorder but now that we are hd almost all the time...when the village needs a playback, they are usually doing so before I even make it back to the stand or do it on the camera once I dock. Premium Members James Davis Posted January 13, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted January 13, 2011 looks good I had one of these strapped to me when on my bike a year or two back, or at least a pov set-up that looked very similar, seemed rugged enough, guessing you might need a custom cable knocked up though if that is something proprietary, although it looks like it could just be a hd-sdi cable.... As I recall the camera cable was proprietary and some of the signal processing was going on in the recorder, so chopping cables and feeding HD-SDI wasn't a possibility. I would find it odd for a small company to actually create their own video standard. So I'm still holding out hope. A low power consuming, one button recording and one button tagging of places in a sequence with the various recording options. I've also stressed to them that if they made an adapter to input your own video that they could stand to sell a few hundred units a year.
