Premium Members Ramon Engle Posted October 16, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 16, 2004 Hi all. I've been shooting in poor weather conditions and having to use my rain gear. I've a PRO sled and an XCS monitor. I use a 3A bottom stage rain cover(Camera Essentials) because it allows room for gyros which is nice. The problem is, in low mode the rain finds its way in the seams. Plus, with time the velcro has lost its adhession. Does anyone know of a better product? What's the rain gear from PRO like? Premium Members BJMcDonnell SOC Posted October 16, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 16, 2004 Hey Ramon, Funny you bring up rain gear as I was doing shots in the rain last night. I just bought rain gear from Rocksteadi gear in Canada. There is not much velcro except where you turn your rig on. It is either drawstring style or watertight zippers. It kept my battery cage totally dry as well as my arm. I wrapped my preston MDR in plastic cooking wrap and that worked like magic. I also own a PRO sled with a PRO 1 battery cage. The camera was wrapped in a garbage bag. Rocksteadi gives you a battery bag, arm cover, follow focus cover (very cool), and a monitor cover (big enough for my TB6). All for about $190.00 bucks and that price includes shipping from Canada to California. As for having your Gyros on , I don't think it would fit in the battery bag. For just regular rain gear it is worth a go. BJ McDonnell Hi all. I've been shooting in poor weather conditions and having to use my rain gear. I've a PRO sled and an XCS monitor. Premium Members WillArnot Posted October 19, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 19, 2004 BJ or anyone. I tried Tim @ Rock Steadi Gear but the # seems to be out of service. Do you have up to date contact info? I am trying to get some good gore tex rain covers made for my XCS sled. I have his vest, arm, and sled cases... they do "rock". Premium Members Stephen Murphy Posted October 19, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 19, 2004 Hi Will, If memory serves me correctly, it was Jeremy Benning who had some custom gore-tex covers made for his xcs sled last year. If you search the archives im pretty sure he posted the contact details of the person who made them for him. they looked pretty cool too! Got Tim Moynihan on the phone. And yes it was Jeremy who taunted us all with those sexy gore tex covers. I am pleading and begging with the seamstress who made them to make me a set but she has had a baby and doesn't have the time. Just did a night shot with Uma Thurman last night in rain and snow (fake). The leaves aren't even off the trees properly yet. Pray for gore tex rain covers. Premium Members BJMcDonnell SOC Posted October 20, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 20, 2004 Thank God for Rocksteadi's covers. It is raining like a MO-Fo here in Los Angeles which is rare. Will, I hope you get those covers made for your sled. I know how much it sucks trying to keep moisture out of the rig and or rain itself. I just picked up my ACF-50 and it is awesome for getting rid of any corosion. With the covers and ACF-50 I hope I am all good. P.S. Will Arnot, The guy at San Val said he was sending out your cans of ACF-50 today. BJ McDonnell
