New vest without straps for Pilot

Recommended Posts

Hi,

When I was at WPPI a few months ago, I saw Steadicam and they had

a vest but not with straps. They had plastic locks or how do I call it in english. ;o)

Anyway, when I'm using my Pilot lately, the straps are coming loose during filming and it

gets on my nerves. ;o)

Is there any way I can order a different vest for it that can be used with the Pilot without

straps ?

Hi Bart,

First, the 'best' possible upgrade is indeed what Nick said, the Flyer vest is a total super upgrade. Partnr 803-7800.

But, you can also buy a Pilot vest upgrade. It's partnr 801-7816. or the cheapest upgrade, only new straps to replace your used ones

but i have no idea what partnr that is.

The attached picture was made by a dvxuser forum member.

Cheers, Erik

Hi Bart:

The above are all options available to you. The picture Erik attached is the upgrade to the Pilot vest that you saw.

The kit comes with the clips and new velcro as shown.

Drop me a mail if you need any help,

Regards,

James

hey guys,

Thanks for the info.

I didn't knew we just can use the flyer vest for the Pilot aswell.

I think purchasing that flyer vest is the best option while changing

to other velcro straps is just another quick fix and it will get loose again

in a period of time.

But wow ... I just checked that price. Is it really $2,050 ?

For only the vest ?

Isn't there a way like upgrading ? ;o)

I'll send in my Pilot vest to purchase that Flyer vest ? ;o)

Is the only difference between the Pilot vest and the Flyer vest the straps ?

Or does it really give you a more stable feeling ?

It's quite a lot of money for just the vest.

Hey Bart,

I think there's a bit of confusion.

The Flyer vest is a totally different vest than the pilot vest, the difference is not just the buckles.

There is an upgrade for the Pilot vest that Erik has pictured that adds buckles to the vest.

Perhaps if the Flyer vest is too expensive, the buckle upgrade will save you some money?

Good luck!

Hi Bart:

The type of vest is down to personal preference. I would try one if you can to decide whether it's right for you.

The Flyer Vest was designed to have twice the weight hanging from it, which is why the construction seems more robust. Both vests ultimately perform the same function.

It's a personal choice,

Regards

James
