I just glanced at it, but the main thing I noticed is you've really gotta watch your cant, the constant tilt is a bit distracting.

Hi Nicholas,

Thanks for the advice.

I still can't control my left hand finger well. I tried to slightly touch the post, but sometimes it just seems too much force been applied to the post.

Leigh

AGAIN...You really need to take a workshop if you are going to seriously consider being an operator. You are learning bad habits, which in turn make you a bad operator. I have looked at most of you videos, ALL of your posts and read all the replies. WORKSHOP! Sorry about the tone, but what are you looking for here. The feedback you have gotten has all said the samething I'm telling you now, and not much has changed with your operating. It's time to commit to a workshop.

Hi jkilroy,

I just realized that you were telling me that I was learning bad habits. Can you just briefly tell me what bad habits I am developing?

TIA

Workshop... 'Nuff Said. Not to be a dick, but it's one of those "hard to explain, easy to demonstrate" things. Do yourself a favor and take a workshop. I tried to tell you all of the things that could affect your framing and levels in an earlier post on this thread, but that can only help you so much. What you need is someone experienced to look at your form and physically show you what to do. You can't learn the practical art of kung-fu by reading about it. Only its fundamental theory. You need a master kicking your ass all day to show you the basic instructions.

I don't see why you seem so resistant to taking the workshop. If it's about humility, everyone goes through that. If it's about trying to beat the system, you are treading unfriendly waters. If it's about money, that's understandable. But by all means, take the workshop. Therefore, you won't appear to be self-conscious looking for our approval. And you'll be too busy perfecting your craft to post links until you are sure of what you're doing. Once again, good luck and take a workshop.

Hey Leigh,

Sorry. I wasn't aware of your circumstance. In that case, keep practicing till you feel comfortable and confident with what you are doing. It must be hard to try to make shots without having Steadicam as your primary source of concentration. But I would say if you can, save your money, plan a vacation from your job, look for a workshop in AUS, UK or the US and just do it.

Sometimes you gotta say, "Fu<k it!" And that way you get to kill a couple of birds with one stone. You get to really learn from pros in a pro environment, have an opportunity to get away from your regular life and be outside instead of cooped up in that cold, artificial lonely room with all the other rocket scientists.

If you get to go to the one in Chester Springs, PA, USA, try the Eggs Benedict. They're delicious!!!

Good luck and keep practicing,

David

After 30 seconds i stopped watching. It's no need to show people 11 minute's the same shot's. In fact, every demomovie you make, are the same. Maybe you can come up with something else? Around a subject. Pull in and out, walking back wards, stairs, etc etc. But it's getting better, that's the good news :D

I must say, the duration of the shot is impressive. Walking uphill without a steadicam for that long is something many people find aerobic and do as a daily ritual to shed unwanted pounds. Basically, I think this is a good exercise in exercise. If you are not familiar with the basics of operating, walking uphill for 10 minutes behind a guy is not a bad thing.

As far as peeking interest cinematically...well, we all wonder why editors cut and paste a perfectly good oner and why much of our finest work goes the land of avid trash, but in this case I can't argue with the decision.

You've got a great tool and you can do great things with it. It ultimately comes down to telling a story... with a beginning, a middle and an end. Technically the move was fine, if the story is titled: "A guys back as he walks up a hill to a house". If you change the title to: "A guy of varying sizes and angles walking to a house because he is worried", then not only will the shot be more interesting, you're operating will improve, based on the complexity of the move you have to design to tell the story.

Good Luck

Hi Job Scholtze,

Thanks for the suggestion.

I watched your video. The composition and the lightings and your skill is fantastic. :D

By the way, what is your model no of your camera? What is your lense you put in front of your pro35? How much cost of the lense? It looks really cool in your demo video.
