Premium Members Jason Williams Posted October 27, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 27, 2004 Found this on eBay, a German seller, now surely this is an infrigment of copyright laws? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...3848730620&rd=1 I'm sure as hell he has 5 DVDR copies, not original pressed, I've heard reports that this is the case, and for ?60, a darn rip off! Anyone want to follow this one up? Just thought I'd made my voice heard on this one.... Jason
TJ Williams
Wow I had no idea Teddy spoke German!!!!! Copyright laws are not international? so if sold where not copyrighted OK if sold here where it is copyrighted violation? As I understand these laws it's up to the copyright holder to bring action. (maybe should fwd this to them) probably will be very expensive and difficult to bring action in German courts! Ever Look for DVD movies on the internet Ebay etc. it's major piracy, in HongKong last year I saw DVDs in the shops, of movies still in the theatres in the US. I've read that a lot of what shows up on E bay is stolen. I guess our movie bias leads us to feel that the good guys will always win In the Global economy maybe this is not so true???? dustinlucht
I actually came accross that training video on a peer-to-peer file sharing network. I will amit that I downloaded it (I know). Looking at the guy's screen caps, they look like screen caps from the DivX video. You can even make out the compression artifacts. Looks like he found the same video and burnt it to DVD. Premium Members Jason Williams Posted October 29, 2004 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted October 29, 2004 Who is it worth reporting to at Steadicam? I'm, almost tempted to buy one just to find out what quality and see if they are DVDRs ... I'm almost certain they are. Then there's the issue of copyrights alone. Sasha
Hi! I actually wanted to sell the original Steadicam Video from adorama.com (http://www.adorama.com/VDSCTP.html) and a backup on DVD-R with it, that I originally produced for myself of a VHS copy I bought 1 year ago! Today I received an answer that the video is not the one that came with the EFP. It is the Steadicam JR training video tape, so I stopped the whole thing! Moderators Alec Jarnagin SOC Posted October 29, 2004 Moderators Report Share Posted October 29, 2004 It has to be a DVD-R (or at least a fake). Some how I don't think C.P. or Tiffen would release a training video that pictures a PRO on the cover!
Premium Members Jason Williams Posted October 29, 2004 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted October 29, 2004 I suspect following a tip off from someone his auction has either been pulled or eBay have stopped it: The seller ended this listing early because of an error in the listing. Shame .... he's lost out on ripping people off for ?60 each (which works out at around £41!) Plus ....... he's also hidden his feedback now, maybe something to hide? Jason :)
Premium Members Jason Williams Posted October 31, 2004 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted October 31, 2004 Here's a rough translation into English from his eBay description: I offer here 2 DVD R-S with 2 outstanding Steadicam training videos! One is the video that to the Steadicam at that time EFP one provided. Tie-clip from the 2-Hours video gibts further down! The other video is led by the experienced and to the best its class counting Steadicam operator Jerry Holway, to which innumerable cheat for different turning forms points out. This video goes 45 minute, is inferior to the other one however in nothing, because the Tipps develops here on the bases of the Steadicam EFP training video! Comment of a buyer: The videos brought me genuinly correctly much - thus still times fat THANKS:) I had myself a Steadicam bought and unfortunately gave it in addition no guidance or sowas - there the Tutorial came as called:) Thus you still much success with eBay:) Greeting Marcus R. //of important notes The sales takes place from private. Warranty as well as other guarantees are impossible. The buyer does with delivery of a requirement without his right of the warranty/guarantees. eBay I pay fees, how ebay the guidelines prescribe it,! Send simply ne Mail with questions, if e.g. n tie-clip cannot be played,! Any use of diagrams, video tie-clips and other materials in this auction is forbidden! I reserve myself all vested titles! Something self admitted there I think..... I love the way that the last line almost says, "it's my copyright so DON'T steal! I hope he gets screwed by Tiffen or whoever fancies dragging him down. Harsh I know .... but I can't be bothered with people who steal copyrights, think that there's nothing wrong with it, then charge poor unsuspecting people thinking it's the real deal! Michael R
"then charge poor unsuspecting people thinking it's the real deal!!" HAHA then I guess I was one of those 'unsuspecting people' (always seems the way) as I bought a copy of it about a month ago. I can confirm that yes it is a burned dvd and basically a straight dump from vhs. With quite a dodgy dvd menu might i add <_< I am only just getting into this game and in no way thought it breeching copyright (i'd never even heard of an EFP before) was hoping it would be good prep for a workshop. Great content in the training video by the way, it's just a shame that Jerry isn't getting his cut! Michael R Brisbane Australia

The brilliant irony of that system being shown on the cover, and anybody having the chutzpah to sweat theft of that image......my god. I love it. :) Peter Abraham
