Premium Members Thomas English Posted October 30, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 30, 2004 I do a lot of these "freebies" practise jobs. I charge 200ukp for them. They are what got me competent and actually paid for most of my kit! But I have rules -If its a band they must be "unsigned" and the promo must be self funded -If its a film the director can t be getting paid It must be self funded Budget must be under a 2 grand a day But above all there must be "no comercial interests" in the project... gotta be art Anyway drive to ascot today for a load of MC s (aka: mouthy c**nts) Im assured by the randomn bloke that they are unsigned, its out of their own pockets etc etc Get there, the "production company" are 2 hours late, this jumped up little nasty woman turns up, talks to me like scum and it turns out they are all signed to "explosive records" and they are doing pickups from a music video they were shooting last week on s16. The production company was called "black and white prod." Its a good job i just got a magliner, made it very easy to reload my van and drive off. Anyway its important to do freebies or you ll never get good, and not all people are scum....... but some are
Premium Members RobVanGelder Posted October 31, 2004 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 31, 2004 Great Action! These people prey on the favours of others and give nothing back. That was the right thing to do, you would not get work from them later anyway.
TJ Williams
Isn't it strange how often bad money and bad treatment go together?
